Question about for I-765 and EAD

Hello,

My wife is about to apply for her employment authorization. I have two questions.

1) We are going to apply for the EAD this week and then her Adjustment of Status in two weeks (financial reasons). Is this a bad idea to apply at seperate dates?

2) On the I-765 question 10 asks "Alien Registration Number (A-number) or I-94 number (if any)." My wife has her I-94 stapled to her passport but a few numbers are on the paper. Is it the number hand written on the back starting with A.

Thanks.

Chris

1) Personally I am not sure about this, perhaps other members will have had experiences with this?

2) Yup its written on the I-94, it is also written on the bottom left of the actual visa beginning with "A"....

Hi Chris

Q1 - it makes no difference - we like you applied separately. As long as they receive all the information and payment. That should be alright.

Q2 The A- No in your passport (printed) is the one that got your wife into the US. Immigration will have another number but use the one in the passport. When I went to info pass they provided me with another number which they use and not the one in the passport. I was told the one in my passport was to get me into the US.

Cheryl

My wife filled for the AOS after she got the EAD card, so she will go for another biometric / this time will be fingerprinting on May 24th .

The A# is handwritten on the back of 1-94.....since you must copy front and back of the 1-94 you have to write the A# on application form as well. My wife filled the following on her 1-765 and there was no RFE:

copy of her birth certificate, notarized copy of 1-94 front and back, notarized copy of k-3 visa in the passport,( incase your case is k-1), two passport styled photos and a notarized copy of the biographic page of her passport. ( we optionally included a copy of the marriage certificate, though its not required, just incase). Finally, she attached a personal check to 1-765.

One thing I have learned about USCIS fillings is that do your best and include all necessary documents to avoid RFE's, and it has worked. Let me hope this will be helpful to you. Keep us posted
