I think the embassy in Kingston should do what the Manila embassy does. The applicant pays for document verfication that has to be done before the interview date. Maybe that will ease the burden on them verifying documents the day of the interview. Manila is a high fraud post like Jamaica and that is what they do and it seems to free up the embassy staff to conduct interviews and do on with the processing of visas and other immigration stuff.

I am sure we all would not mind paying that extra little fee to get the docs verified before the interview and that would cut down on the fraudulent documents that are being presented.

Just my humble opinion.

Trelawny,

It is my understanding that the CR-1 is for married couples. It stands for conditional relative (married 2 years or less). On the other hand, the IR-1 is for couples married 2 years or longer. I'm not sure about how the this type of visa applies to children. If I could turn the hands of time, I would've applied for the CR-1 versus the K-3. The only difference between the K-3 & K-1 is that my husband's visa is good for two years. Also, Kevin did not have to file for AP (Advanced Parole).

I agree with ClaireRN. The procedures in the Philipines seems more efficient.

Likkle more,

Kelia

I agree with Tre. Complaining is not going to do much good. The people who came before us are the one's who constantly force the system to change itself. Too many people trying to beat the system by doing something illegal.

If I had to do it all again, I would not change a thing.

I do agree with Claire. Pre-document verifications might be in order.

As ya'll probably already know Kingston is a HIGH fraud post. It's no secret. Each time someone comes through the embassy with fradulent documents that requires verification of information is not diclosed it holds up the process for everyone. Remember the lady I spoke to at the airport in Baltimore (straight from the horses mouth). None of you here fall into that category, but as I sat there for hours I could see people getting denied left and right because they had FAKE marriage certificates or FAKE divorce certificates, FAKE police certificates or fake interview letters, birth certificate the list goes on. I would just hold down my head and shake it. I hear one of the COs say...this is why we're so behind today. Another thing a majority of visas coming out of Kingston are family visas I think CR/1 falls under that and ladies, people are filing for their nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts (which you can't do). This places another strain on the system. Husbands or wives show up for the interview and can't the the CO what state their spouse live in and you've been married for 4 years...give me a break. Worse yet, ya'll suppose to have 4 kids and you don't know their date of birth....3 hours is a long time to be in a room and if I could have recorded what was going in there I would have. Like Gill and others have reported, it's just crazy....SECTION C is crazy.

I wanted out of there. It just makes it hard for those who really go about it the proper way. According to the lady I spoke to at the airport, each time they get cases what are questionable it places a greater strain on the system. Especially, if the documents have to go through secondary verification or if paperwork is missing they have to reschedule another date and time for the applicant to come back. You see they had to do away with the walk in appts for the vistor visas...too many problems. I think that's why I had an attitude with the woman that did my interview and she started off with me wrong. She was at the last window and they moved her to the window I was called to. WHY......I have no friggin clue...I guess I was being interrogated. Her questions were on necessary...she was just verifying information that was on all my documents. It's like she had all the questions on a piece of paper like my case was questionable. That's why I reacted the way I did. I still can't get over the fact that I was asked 25 questions in all and my fiance was only asked 1 ******* question. I know they have a job to do, but it was just crazy.

Lawny, any idea of what kind of punishment they get for using fradulent docs?

That is exactly what I thought...why is Kingston embassy not verifying the documents before they schedule the interview...this would alleviate all the wasted time being spent on those coming in with the fake docs and more space given to those who are doing this the legit way...this is so insane... ...and their is no one out there that we can voice our anger and frustration to who will do something about it...no matter how many emails we write...who we call...it just boils down to us wasting our time and our breath...i never felt so helpless is my entire life until i started filing for my husband...from waiting over 5 months to just getting an approval from USCIS to having to wait another 5-7 months to get an interview date...it should not take this long...I know there are others like Shrewdgal and Pecky who has been waiting like 9 months just for an approval out of USCIS...this is sick an inhuman...sometimes I say to myself who does USA think they are...like they feel we begging something from them...and they could take their sweet a** time...but we do have more opportunites up here and I know they are "trying" to protect our country from people who will take advantage...but gosh darnit...we do want to start our family sometime in this millenium...but like JG also said complaining will not do any good and we just have to be the saps and sit and wait like a good little girl...or boy... ...

Press Releases 2008

U.S. Embassy Warns Against Fraudulent Visa Appointments and Other Visa Scams

The U.S. Embassy in Kingston is warning the public against using so-called “visa-fixers” to obtain fraudulent visa appointments and other visa scams, such as guaranteeing that a visa will be issued. Members of the public are forewarned that the embassy is aware of these scams and that those who use them are quickly found out and may be banned from ever receiving a visa to visit the U.S.

The embassy’s consular section continually investigates fraudulent visa appointment letters that are instantly recognizable to the adjudicating officers. Yet a growing number of applicants present fraudulent appointment letters obtained from "visa fixers" who operate illegally. These fictitious appointments cause problems not only for the person who buys these services, but also for every bona-fide applicant by slowing down the interview process. Persons who enter the U.S. Embassy with falsified appointment letters will not only be denied visas but they may be subject to a permanent visa ineligibility. They will also be reported to the Jamaican authorities for criminal prosecution.

Applicants or honest, reliable persons acting on their behalf must schedule visa appointments online at: https://evisaforms.state.gov/default.asp?po...G&appcode=3 . This is an electronic calendar that will show available dates and times. Applicants should avoid people or businesses that claim to be able to schedule "expedited" appointments, since the embassy’s appointment calendar is tamper-proof. There is no charge for scheduling visa interview appointments (including emergency appointments) on the embassy’s electronic calendar.

Any applicant needing an emergency appointment should follow the procedures listed at http://kingston.usembassy.gov/visa_services.html . No applicant should ever pay anyone to obtain an emergency appointment since only the embassy can grant and confirm emergency appointments. In such a situation, the embassy will contact the applicant directly.

The embassy warns that one sure sign that an applicant is being scammed is the payment of money for an appointment or the guarantee of a visa. No individual can guarantee that a visa will be issued. During an interview, a consular officer evaluates each application individually and determines whether the applicant meets the requirements of U.S. immigration law.

Scammers are criminals who are misleading the public. Whenever the embassy receives information about them, they are reported to the Jamaican authorities for criminal prosecution. Anyone who believes that a travel agent or individual is providing questionable services is urged to inform the embassy at kingstonvisas@state.gov. The embassy will take quick action to prevent other applicants from being charged money for fraudulent "services" that cannot be delivered.

Wow, I cant believe they called too! I got an email form them yesterday, and it said that

"Evan is currently on a waiting list, as soon as his priority date becomes current we will notify him by mail."

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought as a USC we dont have those long 7 year priority dates. This is how ridiculous it is there. People having no idea what the heck they are talking about. And if this is what Kingston is saying, whose to say they are not actually following this ridiculous procedures. This is not the first time I heard this either. My congressmans office visa specialist told me the same thing. I was like " i thought we didnt have a wait, he was like, haha noooo everyone has a wait". :crying:

The "'7 years" they are talking about is for relatives other than spouse. We you guys are speaking to these baffoons, you have to talk slolwy so they can understand that yours is a spousal visa and you are now waiting for an interview date, not for your priority date to become current. We must all remember that these are government workers, they don't think or process thoughts. They are like robots that spit out info without any thought as to what it relates to. When they say that spousal visas have no waiting, they only mean that you don't have to wait for a priority date, the processing starts immediately. But the only problem is after all the processing is done, you still have to "wait" for an interview date.

Hope I don't sound like I am rambling, but I am mad as heck about the misery these people are subjecting all you guys/gals to. I cannot imagine what you all are feeling right now. My heart goes out to you all and hope all this gets resolved soon so your lives can come out of limbo and you can start your true life journey with your loved ones.

You are most welcome Marlita. This all makes me so mad. Even though I am not actually going through the process, I feel the hurt, pain and disappointment you all must be feeling right now, especially those of you who have been waiting since case was completed in March.

And to those of you who have been going through this process for four years, I must emphatize with you because I can't even begin to imagine what you must be feeling. :crying::crying:
