Forever..was that the affidavit of support ? sorry about the delay but other than that ur Golden like u sid :) Congrats

Thank You!

The 864A is a Contract btw the Sponsor and the Household Member. My sponsor is married and they just want them both to sign the form. There were some interesting events at the embassy though, and it seemed a lot of people were missing that form, however neither USCIS or NVC asked us to fill it out so we were kind of upset about that lack of communication. The interview itself was short. She was very nice. We were sworn in. She asked:

-Have you ever been convicted of a crime or have problems with police?

-Have you ever traveled to the US

- Did you guys meet in the US?

- She asked my SO if she was Jamaican by birth

- Do you have children?

- Were either of you previously married?

Then she explained the form, handed it us and we have to return in 2 weeks and collect the visa.

That's all.

There was a family there that got into a lot of trouble because the husband lied about his police record. The lady we saw was the only one doing interviews. The interviewer was very upset with him and his lies. My SO was reading her lips and this is what she found out:

- he was arrested for armed robbery and served 4 years

- he had another arrest that his wife knew nothing about and he lied about it to the Officer.

- the Officer asked if he ever went to the US. he said yes. She asked for his passport. He hesitated. He then admitted to going up on someone

else's visa.

- She asked have you ever overstayed in the US. he said no. (conversation uncertain) but he was deported at some point

However the Officer had his record once he did the fingerprint, and I guess he didnt figure out they had all of that information on him.

They were told to wait for a phone call once the information she had on them was confirmed. The case may be sent back to the US since it

thats where his offenses occured.

Key: Assume they know EVERYTHING!

thanks everyone...ohh shrew...u making me blush....(i'm typing on my phone so can't use the smileys :) )...thank you...yes I am going to try my hardest to go down...I don't have any more vac days and only one personal day but I have a few sick days so i'm going to ask my boss if I can take 2 days off...the tues and come back up the wedn after the interview...we will see...I have a question for the SO who came up or are coming up...how were their experience getting on the plane and finding their gate and stuff and what forms did they have to fill out if any when coming up...my hubby is kinda nervous coming up by himself but I rather be at the interview then go down to pick him up. is there anything extra they go through then what the US travelers go through..thanks....(thumbs up)

Congrats Jgay! I heard the news a few days ago, just couldnt log in.

As far as the travel by himself. My husband flew from Mobay to Fort Lauderdale, to Long Beach. He did just fine. He had a 3 hour layover and even had another hour or so to spare after all the immigration stuff and traveling from one terminal to another. Your husband should be fine. Just tell him to call you from a payphone or his cell if he has questions. After he clears immigration everything is just like for a US resident or citizen traveler. Very easy. Evan even got thru customs with all his food that he listed which were plants and everything. They didnt mind one bit what he had he said. He told me the Jamaica airport was worse than them all cause they made a big deal about him bringing on hot sauce and they took it from him... :angry:dem john crow batty!

Dont worry shrewdgal, your case will be fine. Our case was a little different from the norms, so all we have to do now is take the form they requested in and wait for my passport to come back to me.

The mister got his SSN card today in the mail. We just waited for it. Never went to the SS office and it took one week. Just sharing an update for those who may want to know how long it will take.

So is he able to go apply for a state ID and DL now?

Marlita, doesn't he have a stamp in his passport? That would prove legal status - I have friends that travelled on that stamp because they hadn't gotten their greencard yet -

Does the stamp prove he has legal status to work though? I thought it just meant he had legal status to be in the US...its just a visa not a resident card right? I'm a bit confused.
