Immigration law is Federal law, and not state law. Which means any lawyer living anywhere in the 50 states can represent you.

Therefore, if you are seeking help in this arena you are far better to look at the practitioner's credentials and experience than their proximity to you. Especially if your case has complexities or is caught deep in a black hole.

Hi my friend gogo!! I wish you the very best and hoping this nightmare for you and your wife closes! I thought there were only WAC's at CSC but, I believe the WAC's multiplied!

05/18/2007 Filed I-129F at Chicago Office ( Filed 186 days ago) 6 MONTHS!!

05/20/2007 rec'd NOA (184 days ago for NOA I ) REACHED THE 6 MONTH MARK!!

BOTH APPLICATIONS APPROVED 11/20/2007 THANK YOU MY GOD!!

Hi My Honey!! :dance: so maybe my application got approved then.. the lawyer said that they will be going for my I-130 ONLY.. since I-129F was suppose to be faster, but it isn't.. that's fine by me, as long as something gets approved.. :whistle:

I-130 STAGE 1 : 533 days - 1 year 6 months (4/16/2007 to 9/22/2008)

Priority Date I-130 : 4/16/2007 ( 533 days , APPROVED 9/22/2008)
Transferred to local office based on "security checks" : 11/27/2007
wrote hundreds of letters - received letter from FBI Records Management Chief stating no security checks
local office interview : 2/21/2008 - brought my parents too (result : you will get approval within 2-3 weeks)
5/2/2008 - (lawsuit) Writ of Mandamus - OFFICIAL DATE (7/29/2008)
9/22/2008 - CALL AND EMAIL COPY OF APPROVAL NOTICE FROM LAWYER

I have read of awards in the tune of lawyer fees after the filing of the mandamus, so explore that option during filing so u can get the approval and ur fees back to the lawyer/urself.

Gogo thanks for the update. I really l hope the WOM works out for you. Please please keep me posted and let me know how your law firm is representing you. After you have delt with them let me know if you recomend them. I am desprate to find some one good that will get the job done and help us with our case.

Yes thanks for posting. I'm considering getting a lawyer as well since our case had the wrench thrown into it. I'm in contact with our congressman now but we'll see how that goes. I may just use that lawyer firm as well. Let us know how it goes.

still nothing yet.. came back from my trip to China for 2 1/2 weeks =) yay.. the Demand letter was sent May 12.. so the USCIS has 30 days to respond..

Direct from Lawyer:

"Once we received the above, we will issue the demand letter. The demand letter will instruct CIS to adjudicate your application within 30 days. If no response is received within 30 days, we will prepare to file the mandamus. The government has 60 days from the receiving the lawsuit to file their response. They are entitled to a 30 days extension. Basically it is at least 3-4 months to complete the process. "

for that, I pay $5500, but it will be worth it.. I hope that I really get approved soon.. I am sad and I miss her very much.. even after my recent trip there.. I wish that we could be together everyday.. for those of you that are together, you are lucky =) I am jealous...

i feel for you... coz unfortunately we are still pending ... 10months now... but me and my hubby was separated 2years now since we last saw each other...

if you don't mind pardon me..i just want to ask were you... under security check...???

coz that's we are now... we just don't understand is that how come...2 petitions were filed by my hubby one for me and one for my mother in law... same time filed but it was approved way ahead of me.... what you think... sorry to bother with this questions... thanks..

haha, I have been under security checks since November 2007 (7 months from filing in April 2007).. they said I was under security check, so I wrote a letter to the White House (forwarded to FBI - you probably read it already what happened).. they sent a letter to my house stating no security checks.. also had a "local office interview" too in February 2008.. the guy said everything looks good and you will get approved, but nothing happened (even brought my parents to the interview stating it was for real).. then after that they said I was under "additional processing".. which pretty much means the same thing.. :angry: :angry:
