Because the dems want the dead, felons and illegals to be able to vote. It's ruining their base.

The Republicans just need Diebold. But of course, states have been comming to thier senses on that one, so they need other ways to rig the election.

Anyone who votes knows that you have to go to specific polling place you are assigned to. Your name and address are on a list. The workers ask you for you name and address. If by chance someone else came to your polling place before you and said they were you, they would be caught. There is no other precautions needed to discourage people from voting as somebody other than themselves. Secondly, state ID's can be and have been made counterfeit. In other words, there is no full proof method...it's a matter of taking reasonable precautions.

Ah right, no such thing as voter fraud. Lets just trust everyone. Alternativly there is nothing we can do to stop it so why try? Nice.

Well, thankfully the Supreme Court does not agree with you. I am hoping now for this to be nation wide. Especially in states with a large illegal population.

I think the ruling is sound. It needs to be accompanied with a national ID so all voters have verifiable photo identification.

You go round and round with that implication but can't prove that can happen under the way polling places currently are set up.

In the meantime, you can't discount the fact that many registered voters don't have valid state ID's, who would be denied their right to vote.

Is denying a citizens right to vote making an election free and fair?

You complain about people not showing ID when voting, but you wont bat an eye when elections conducted on voting machines that are not secure. Your talk is a double standard.

So for you, free and fair elections are whatever gives your party an advantage even if its not fair.

Fingerprints are better than a photo - I agree.

In NJ you need photo ID the first time you vote and you need to sign and have your signature match your previous signature every time after.

If someone is bent on commiting vote fraud, an ID wont stop them.
