Hi everyone,

I still haven't got my NOA2 from CSC yet (hopefully I will get it in about a month or so) but I'm sort of looking ahead so I can be prepared. I was looking at form DS-230 and I had a few questions on question # 20 and 23. Now my fiancee is Albanian and she currently lives in Albania. She has lived in Greece for about 10 years until about 5 years ago. First, question # 20 asks to "list all all places you have lived for at least six months since reaching the age of 16, including places in your country of nationality." Question # 23 asks to "list all educational institutions attended".

If we put this info on there, then the U.S. embassy will require a police certificate from Greece, which she cannot get, because she doesn't have a visa to go back to Greece. So how do we proceed in this situation? Is the information in questions 20 and 23 all that crucial? Please help.

Thank you so much.

Has she tried googling and then calling to see if she can get one without going back?

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

First: Never EVER lie on the forms  That is the quickest way to get your finacee a lifetime ban from entering the US.

Second: I assume that penal records are the same as police records.

Penal records

[....] If applying from outside of Greece, both Greek and foreign nationals should apply to the Greek Embassies at their place of residence and include in their written application full details of their identity & residence in Greece. Penal records will be sent directly to the Greek Embassies from where the request was filed.

Thank you very much for your replies. So it looks like she can just go to the Greek embassy and they can help her get the police certificate or penal records without haveing to go to Greece.

Correct. They send it directly to the US embassy, so you won't see it. The day we went to my fiance's interview the US embassy told him they didn't have it in the morning when he paid the cash, and then in the afternoon they approved him. We don't know if they found the Greek police report or approved him without it, but it takes like a month or more to get it so apply for it soon.

Good luck.
