Please advise on K-3 visa

My wife and I met 6 years ago at a job we were both working at. We fell in love and were married by the court november 2006 and by the church june 2007 in the US. She has been in the US since 1989 and was 10 years old at the time. She entered un lawfully. we have an approved I-130 and applied for adjustment of status. we recieved a work card and she began working at the school district that i teach at last monday. we had our interview for adjustment of status ths past saturday but were denied due to the fact that she had no petition filed before 2001. I was told she will have to return home to mexico for 6-8 months wile I file for a 129F. She has never coomitted any crimes other that entering illegally into the united states when she was 10 and she has never worked with fraudulant documents. Please help me to know what steps to take to get her back to me as quickly as possible. She knows nothing of Mexico and is very scared about being there without knowing anyone. Please help.
