My husband's favorite name is Adham but he told me it is some type of strong arabian horse, though this list says it just means "black". I'll have to look that one up.

I just want a name that he can write in kindergarden

My forum name is my real name and I've never gone by something differently. I had no problem in kindergarten. I think I learned to write my name around 3? I know I learned the alphabet at 2 and was reading by 3.5. It's not too bad if you teach them early on to write their name :) I remember someone saying once I had too many syllables in my name (9 overall).

I hated my name growing up because all the other kids got to have pens, hair clips, memo pads, toothbrushes with their name on it and there was never any that had Bridget on it. :(

I feel your pain. I always found things for Amy but rarely Aimee. When I did find my spelling, I would always buy it because it's so rare that I do find something.

I also know that feeling. my name being terrie, there are so many different ways of spelling it, and also never found anything with that spelling. And if kamal and i were to have kids (am too old), i would like a good old fashiioned arabic name

Does anyone here married to Arab men ever give their children American/Western names?

VINDICATION! Ha! he woke me up 2 nights ago to tell me Violetta is a name he saw an Arab girl have. So I've now put Violet in as a REAL contender.

I love the way Aimee is spelled. Yes I must agree with that, I always found "Tania" "Tamara" but not Tammy or my full name. Bridget, I love your name.

Violet is a beautiful name. I like Isaiyah for a boy and Sapphire for a girl...maybe nicknames??

I like Amir for boys, its short and sweet

for a girl though, I like "Summer" too

Ya im all over the place I'll just call one whatever I want depending on the mood at home.
