Hi everyone,

We changed our address online about a month ago.

My husband has called USCIS afterwards to verify, and they told him the address change was noted.

However, until today we haven't received any confirmation of this by letter.

Are such letters always sent, or do you think we can trust it's fine?

Take care all,

Cat

They do not send confirmation of receipt for the AR-11 notice of address change. However, your sponsor spouse should also have sent in the I-865 notice of address change, and for that they will send an NOA. You can download the I-865 from the USCIS website and then mail it in.

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

I am confused. The instructions with this I-865 form on the USCIS website say that you have to file this, if in the past you have filed a form I-864, Affidavit of Support, to sponsor an immigrant.

Since at this time, all we have filed is the I-130 and I-129F petitions, and not the I-864 Form (or I-134 Form that that matter), i'd say that we do NOT have to file this form.

Reba, or someone else, why do you feel that that is required anyway? (And if so, why the hell didn't they say so when my husband called USCIS...)

For the purposes of a K3, they consider the I-134 the same as the I-865 the same thing, AND because the I-130 is still pending at USCIS, they need to know your sponsors whereabouts so they can mail out an NOA or RFE if needed. If he doesn't notify them of his address change, then how will they send any notification about the I-130? The AR-11 form WILL NOT update your address change on any pending paperwork, only the I-865 does that.

Good point.

I guess it definitely can't hurt to send it in any case.

Thanks for your post, Reba.

Hi Catt,

As you're military, you don't need to mess around with forms for a change of address. If you call the Military Immigration Helpline (number in my signature) they will do it all for you while you're on the phone .... as the helpline takes you into the hub of USCIS, I'm sure the details are updated immediately.

Admittedly, there have been a couple of newbies manning the line lately, so you may need to call back and check it's been done. But at least we get help in that area

Hope you're well

Thanks Sarah... this puts my mind at ease!

This afternoon (instead of working), I have been checking out stuff online about this I-865, it was giving me a headache.

Best call my husband before he mails off the form.

Thanks again! :star:
