The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

When I was in the US - I searched high and low for this delightful food without success. In fact it was one of the few foods I missed while I was there - I am hoping it is a case that it is known as something else

So here it is

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crumpet

And where do I get it

Depends where you're moving to. Here in Florida they're in the egg section of the supermarket. Natch.

They're recently been added to the "international frozen foods" section at Ingles here in North Carolina. Which is one freezer. And I like 'em with butter and jam, or back home in Canada we put Cinnamon spread on 'em.

If you will be moving somewhere that has a World Market or a high end grocery store with a large international foods section, you may be able to find them.

You can also order them from on-line Canadian and UK food shops.

I LOVE crumpets and missed them as well when I moved here. I have checked out all of the local stores - including Whole Foods - and they just don't seem to be available in this area. I did find an excellent on line site and have ordered them in (I need to order some more, in fact). Here is the link: http://www.tea-n-crumpets.com

Their prices are really reasonable and a lot cheaper to be shipped than they are from Canada. They are located in San Rafael, CA. I worried about how fresh the crumpets would be when they arrived, but they were fine - in fact, better than fine - they were great!

I highly recommend them.

I have also ordered the crumpet tins and have the recipe - just haven't got around to making them myself - they are too easy to order through this site:-).

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Mm...honey and crumpets! The honey always melts and mixes with the butter and then the gooey mixture seeps all the way through the crumpet...

they have them at my local supermarket...i live in brooklyn, ny and they have them at my key food...i think your best bet would be the healthier stores like whole foods or trader joe's because they tend to carry more imported foods than regular supermarkets

edit: nevermind about whole foods, because someone already posted about that
