I decided to order the last 3 years of tax transcripts just to have, whether required or not. The form on the IRS website is easy and could even be faxed in. Easy, free, fast.

I got years 2005 and 2006 in a matter of days in separate envelopes. Today I got a long form with pages of tick boxes with all the reasons why they didn't send what you requested or things you need to do for them.

I had box 23 ticked:

"Forms or tax information for year 2007 is not available until 11-30-08

2007 is the most recent tax return (due in by 4-15-08). I just wanted to tell people my experience since there are many posts suggesting that people should get the free transcript from the IRS. Depending on your journey timeline, you may not be able to get that information before your interview. You would have to use year 2006, which isn't actually your last tax return. I will just use my Turbo-Tax copy as additional supporting evidence... not that it will even be requested.
