Ok, so my fiancée went to have her medical examination and get her vaccinations ahead of time. While there, she met with the person we hired to handle the paperwork. While he was preparing her for the interview by asking her a few questions, he mentioned to her that she will likely not get her Visa because of the amount of time that we have know each other for. We were introduced by her aunt back in January 2007 and met in person in June and then again in September. Do you think that the consulate would penalize us because of the length of time that we have known each other? Any information pertaining to this would be greatly appreciated as she is very upset by this information.

Thanks in advance for you time and input

As long as you met for the last 2 years before you filed your petition.

I have seen some couples here they only met once then filed for k1

and during the interview they didnt have any problems.

Make ur fiancee can answer all the questions the consuls will ask about you and prepared all the required documents.

Dont worry too much, she'll be okay.

Good luck and God bless on your fiancee's interview!

I don't think the CO is going to deny you because of that. After all, you both fulfill the requirement! So, think positive and best of luck on your fiancee's interview!

Thi and I met online on July 23, 2006. We met in person on March 9, 2007. After filing our I-129f, I visited her again in September 2007 and went to her interview on February, 2008. Today we're getting married......

The amount of time from first meeting isn't what the Consulate is considering, it's whether you have a real real relationship or not. Since you were introduced by her aunt, the Consulate will be looking closely to see why her aunt introduced you, if you're related, or other possible reasons that this isn't a real realtionship. Have every evidence possible to show that your relationship is real and evidence that the Consulate may ask for.

You should read Hoanie's recent post about his fiancee's interview at HCMC and getting the visa.

Good Luck at the interview.

OP, if you're worried about this, make sure you have a ton of proof to show you're in a real relationship. A lot of people meet and get married faster than you are, but things vary from consulate to consulate.

11/2004 - Met in Brazil

09/2006 - Apply for K1

03/2007 - K1 approved

04/2007 - Apply for AOS & EAD

07/2007 - EAD approved

01/2008 - Conditional Residency approved

11/2009 - Apply to remove conditions

02/2010 - Permanent Residency approved

11/2010 - Apply for Citizenship

03/2011 - Citizenship approved

07/2011 - Moved back to Brazil

Well, I have phone receipts, copies of letters and receipts of letters and packages sent, email correspondents, airline tickets, pictures, paperwork from when we tried to obtain our marriage license in Vietnam, supporting statement, and letter from my employer of employment. I hope that this will be enough proof

Like everyone else, be prepared to demonstrate you have a bona fide relationship. There is no minimum "know each other" time except to have met in person in the past two years. Vietnam is a high fraud post, so I'd get to the appropriate regional forum for advice on what evidence to be ready with and how to prepare for the interview.

By reading the regional forum here and also general research on the web about Ho Chi Mihn City consulate.

Some have found it advantageous if they attend the interview with their fiance. After researching you might want to consider that option.

I am going to put in a request to my employer on Monaday to take off so that I can be there with her so that she doesn't have to do it alone. Will I be allowed to actually attend the interview? I was reading on the Ho chi Minh Consulate's website that I cannot attend, only the one being interviewed.

Thanks for your help
