kaydee, you seem really stressed out about this! Does your wife look this bad without the contacts?

If she's been wearing them for so many years for just the cosmetic purpose, the cost for an eye exam looks very little compared to the cost for the lenses she's had over the years.

Shouldn't her eyesight be worth the cost of an exam?

I stand corrected......I've never really shopped for any brand other than Accuvue2 and one other, can't remember. The majority of online sites on carry Accvue2 in one size, especially those that sell cosmetics only.

No it shouldn't. The cost of the exam trumps everything else, even the health of her eyes........Just call me CHEAP!

Thanks for all the responses and the sources.

I defy you to find any color contacts that come in any other size than 8.3, 14...One size fits all...J&J Accuvue2 manufacters them in only one size!

Almost all the major manufacter's sell them in only this size, or very near this size, but one size only, unlike my presicription lenses which correct and require to be fitted.

Yes, 8.3 is the most prevalent. I couldn't remember the other size which is 8.7.................

One size only.....

This is all a moot. coloredvisioncontacts.com will supply them as long as they're 0,0 power.

Whatever.... it's just your eyesight.... ::shrugs::

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. Kaydee,

I used to wear cosmetic contact lenses, just for fun, when I was 18 or so (8 years ago). So did many of my friends. In fact, Justin has green eyes and he would get a purple set, use only one (so one eye would be purple and another green), and have fun making people at work uncomfortable lol

The thing is, fashion trends have changed. Yesterday, going from a dark hair color to a Marilyn-Monroe-like-blonde color, would be considered "glamorous", now it's viewed as..."wanting to be someone else". Fashion trends now look to accentuate your features more than go for a big change. Makeup is lighter, cosmetic lenses are out. Being a brunette is now the greatest, look at Dove's real beauty campaign...

So I think that is the reason people reacted to your post as they did. Most people have a different approach to beauty today, well, at least most people do. We all want the "natural, barely there" look. Don't take the replies to your topic so hard, I think people are just being too serious about what's only a fashion trend and nothing else.

Saludos,

Caro

Man, I can't believe this. I wore contacts for 15 years and could not wait to get lasik surgery so I wouldn't have to wear them anymore. I can't imagine someone disliking their eye color enough to want to wear them. Or putting up such a stink when people suggest getting an exam and such.

I have to ask then...if the reason for your wife wearing coloured contacts isn't because she hates the colour of her eyes...then what IS the reason?

Pure curiosity.

Well, if it was up to her she'd quit wearing them, but I act like a child and complain incessantly when we go out and she doesn't wear them! She's fcuking hot when she wears them!

When we were dating she never wore them until about two months into the relationship and BAM, one day she put them in and the rest is history.......

Too bad this country's so backward about certain things. We could buy these anywhere in the ME over the counter, as many as we wanted...I bought my Rx contacts in Spain once when on an extended business trip and again, over the counter!

Geez, what's next, controlling Viagra, Cialis? Oh wait, they already do that too, don't they????? Lot's of online stores making gazillions on that!

Nanny medicine that serves no purpose other than to artificially support an industry through mandating what can, and cannot be purchased without a Rx.

Dumb.

Anyway, the original vendor didn't stop selling them at all but took their website down to do some redesign. I have them on order as we speak. All is right in the world as the natural order of the universe has been restored!
