I'm glad you like them. Oh if you saw the purse Sujeet brought back from India for me when he went in Feb, you'd be so jealous!! :whistle::whistle::whistle::lol: j/k ;)

grrrrrrrrrrrrrr :angry::angry::angry: OOOOH, but WHOOOOOOO, I can buy my own in December!

And I also could not wear any of the shoes :crying: I have big feet! I told Sujeet next time we have to get bigger shoes for us poor folk. :yes:
:lol::thumbs::blush:
Eat nothing that is cold. Only hot. And if you can't digest Indian food well, stick to dosas and idli. You'll be fine. And take medicine for travelers diarrhea, I think they prescribe Cipro for that.

*writes this down*

For me, it's the spices that get to me. But thankfully, having my inlaws with us who have been there loads of times will help in preparing and doing stuff that might put a damper on the trip...don't want the Indian version of Montezuma's revenge all while I'm there... :help::lol:

Im speaking of India in general. It's sensory overload. Prepare yourself.

Yeah...I'll watch more Bollywood! :lol::lol::lol::goofy:

Ok, but remember....India is nothing like what is portrayed in bollywood! :no::lol:

In Bride and Prejudice, there are scenes when Darcy and his friend Bulraj arrive in Amritsar for the first time and are sitting in the car getting driven through the streets, that part was pretty realistic looking! That's how it's going to be or even more chaotic, not like in bollywood. But don't let it scare ya, it's truly an experience! :lol:

Wait...you mean they don't break out into colourful, choreographed musical numbers and dance scenes in the market places???? :o:o:o:crying::crying::crying:

They went to Goa in Bride & Prejudice...LOL

I think I'll enjoy the choas AND the more quite restful places.

I once got kicked out of a store because I looked at a religious portrait the wrong way. This was in Jammu, up north. Then heard a gunshot on the walk back followed by a stampede of people. The next day at the temple they tried to steal my shoes. I was 14 at the time. India is nuts, too unpredictable. Nice for a visit but living there again... no thanks.

I'm thinking you probably made some kinda comment if it was a religious portrait... ;)

No more of a "what are you kidding me?" look when he told me how much it would cost. He just lost it. Started yelling at me and cussing and pushing me towards the exit.

Yep

We also were in Agra but we didn't go to any shops there...too crazy of a city for me. We either were at the Taj Mahal or in the hotel(were there just 2 nights), and ate mostly in the hotel too. I didn't go walking around there. Only once my dad and Sujeet walked to a Pizza hut down the street while I stayed back at the hotel, to get us some food. I didn't feel like getting followed by people trying to sell things the whole way, so I happily let them go without me. The hotel was very safe so I didn't feel nervous about that.

After being in Agra, when we got back to New Delhi, I actually thought "ohhh we're back home!!". That's crazy in itself.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, consider this. The cost of that item you didn't really want will probably be quite low by USD standards. But since you're an American tourist, even that low price is after a huge markup. Thanks to you, the shop owners kids will probably have goat that night :)

same here! That's why I didn't do any of the talking while buying things. I'd pick things out, and call Sujeet over to bargain. hehe. It probably annoyed the shop owners that hey had to bargain with a local rather than scam a tourist.
