What do you think ? I was in this store and 3 bratty kids were making fun of an Asian man,saying how much he resembled Jacky Chan,and other stupidities.Is this what they learn from their parents ?

A few months ago we were in a chinese restaurant with an asian girl that my wife works with. Half-way through the meal she was asking which of the wait staff was our waiter because "they all look the same"

Racial stereotypes, Why do they exist in the first place?

Unfortunately, there are enough real stereotypes to perpetuate stereotypes.

Of course we all know that everyone is not 100% the same, but there is enough fodder out there in the real world to perpetuate the stereotypes.

People can whine and complain that it's not fair or right, but it exists in the real world whether it is 100% justified or not. The P.C. police keep it underground, but people of all races speak their mind in private among themselves. Denying that reality is just being naive.

I'm of Indian heritage and the truth is a lot of us are cheap, a lot of us do smell and a lot of us are dishonest. The stereotype is fair, even though only 2 out of 3 apply to me.

Wow you seem more like a middle age white dude. I love the one they did on south park on Jennifer Lopez and she kept saying I am not mexican I am Puerto Rican. Funny stuff. Latinos always get that, you like tacos? Dude I am PUERTO RICAN, my grandmother never made a taco in her life.

Yep.I get mistaken for Cape Verdian and Dominican all the time.I'll be like"No,I'm Panamanian." And the person I'm talking to is like,"You're Dominican right?"

I've heard that, too. I don't talk about it because it makes me feel bad. I'm definitely an under-performer in my ethnic group. I had a contractor in last year and he made a comment about "when" I move into my McMansion. Talk about embarrassing.
