Hello,

My fiancee arrived in this country in Feb. We got married on April 19 and her visa expires on May 2nd. We have to now prepare papers fot the lawer. I now have a wife and I am NOT going to seperate from her. I cannot believe how the government is involved in my love life. We have an apartment, a joint bank account and pay bills with the account. Is this all I need to get this interview approved? How many approvals do they need to have the immigatration realize that this is not a game.

is this for adjustment of status... if i were you i would go to the forum discussing that.. there are a lot of helpful hints there.. no one really knows exactly what immigration wants from us.. i gotta prepare for the adjustment of status too.. i don't even have pictures of a wedding because we got married at the courthouse with just us and the preacher... pretty much from now on it's about proving yourself to immigration... it's a matter of fact... sad but true.. many blessings on your interview with immigration... oneder

Passage Revelation 19:11:

11And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

God is realer and we are His sheep
which side are you on, CHOOSE, start moving your feet
choose JESUS and have ETERNAL PEACE" by GOD to me on 9/26/10 about 2am
Thank you Jesus!!!!

Your lawyer should be able to get you through this without any issues - if you have chosen a competent lawyer. If you need help from this forum, then more details on your petition/Visa etc. would help people with similar experience help you. Its not a tough process, provided you two do not have any questionable background (that would raise flags for Immigration people). Fill out your details and ask specific questions and we will try and help you. You and thousands of others are going through a similar process. Good Luck

As long as immigration is involved the government will be in your love life. Because people abuse of the system, it's as simple as that.

I don't see why you talk about being separated though.

It's ok if you don't file for AOS before the I-94 of her K1 visa expires. You got married within the 90 days that's what matters. It's best to file ASAP to simplify your lives (be able to work, travel, etc), but no stress. And as soon as you file for AOS she'll be under pending status.

Before the interview you need to apply for the AOS (read the guides). The interview will come later. Take things one step at a type.

As far as the documents you will need, if she is on the lease (if you rent) or co-owner of the apartment, take the paper with both your names. Get her added to the bills (again so both your names show up together), you will need that later on, but it's good to work on it ahead of time non the less.

08.2006: Entered with a B-2 visa.

07.06.07: Civil Wedding

07.17.2008 AOS approved with interview. It took 367 Days!

11.08.08: Big family wedding

09.18.09-10.03.09: First trip to France with Hubby

I-751

04.19.10: Package sent to Vermont

04.21.10: Delivered in Vermont

04.22.10: NOA date

04.23.10: Check cashed

05.17.10: Received biometrics appointment letter

06.07.10: Biometrics Appointment

06.26.10: Touched

07.07.10: Card Production Ordered!

07.17.10: Card in the mail :) Done until citizenship

well those are great proofs.. but pictures over a period of time also is a great proof too.... u know ... showing when u go out, honeymoon if u had one and so on... another great way if to get a insurance together health life ..... u know stuff that marriage couple do.. however don't try to do too much as this can seem and will come off as fake to them and will cause them to look into things more.... so pretty much just be your self... as on of the most important thing they look for is body language...... and how u guys behave around each other.... they are trained to look for particular behaviours. just try to take pics when u go out together.... and keep stuff .. copies of the card that u guys use..... etc... good luck and feel free to ask ....

EXCELLENT ADVICE!

I saw this first hand at our K-1 interview too. There was a couple who stood 3 feet apart at the window, they could not have been farther apart. I posted about them in my embassy review, they were the ones that the girl didn't know her "fiance's" last name. And there were couples (like us) who were holding hands or touching in some way, looking at each other, laughing, joking, acting silly (that's not abnormal for us  ).

It's like any interview, body language is important.

To the original poster:

You don't have to separate from your wife. The good thing about filing for AOS is that no matter how long it takes, you ARE together. I don't get why people complain about AOS taking so long. With k-1, yes you are apart and the wait sucks.
