First, the caveats:

I am not the only or the first person to feel this way/have this happen to/make such a post as this

I am only looking to vent a little

Not trying to hack anyone off

Now the body of the problem:

Although I am sincerely happy that another petition has been approved in general (and that IS the case!), that having been said, it really gets under my skin that this petition was filed AFTER mine AND they'll now be ahead of me in the same embassy. I suppose it wasn't so bad to see other approvals happening of petitions that were filed at or beyond my same NOA1 date prior to now because they were all going to different embassies. But now that one is going to the same embassy as mine (hopefully) will, I dunno, somehow that "sticks in my craw" and seems to be staying there. Well this morning anyway. And I feel certain (relatively anyway, but I'm sure that someone will post and comment on the different possibilities as to why mine hasn't met with a similar approval timeframe such as random "screening checks" etc., etc.) that the primary reason mine is taking longer is because of the IMBRA cr*p. I filed only once before, 3.5 years ago now and didn't request a waiver (because it wasn't required).

But don't get me started on IMBRA.

And yes, I realize that I have it WAY better than the CSC filers, so noone go there on me. I think that those folks should be shouting from the rooftops! You know, what really gets me about this is the increased fees for these petitions. When I filed in 2004 the fee was $170 and I had an old form at the time that showed the fee as $110. Now of course the I-129F is $455 (assuming it hasn't increased again recently). Now....I don't mind paying extra for better service, but when I pay a higher amount and I DON'T get that service, well I take issue. And it seems the CSC filers have the biggest dog in that fight. Again, don't get me started.

OK! Enough venting. Thanks for reading. Gotta get back to work now.

Best to all.

I find it all evens out in the end. At this stage, someone's application has passed yours. At another stage, yours will pass theirs. I wouldn't waste too much energy focusing on it. :star:

Yes Ive noticed that too, mine was approved quickly but people approved after me have already got their dates for London and Im still waiting. Just the way it goes!

Luck of the draw. And, yes, in the end, I've found it to even out as well.

Hang in there.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

I 'think' the person that you're talking about called their senator to help expedite their approval. Right or wrong...it made the difference for them.

You seem to understand how it is and why it is so there's not much to say except that I wish you luck!

I agree with you regarding CSC.... I contacted my rep regarding the disparity even tho i'm filing at VSC just because I think it's so outrageous!

Anyway, hope you see your approval real soon!

Yeah, thanks, I know how things go. I am not sure about the even-out thing that others are purporting, but it sounds reasonable, so...

Time will tell. Good luck to everyone, thanks for listening.

Ok now I'm really burned. I talked with a friend this morning to see how he was, how his fiancee is doing, etc. He also filed with VSC after I did and his beneficiary is from the same country as mine (Russia). Heck I helped him put his package together! (he didn't use a lawyer either, doesn't believe in the myth too) Furthermore, he had filed last year and needed a waiver! And yet, and yet: his petition was approved on April 11th, two weeks ago! WTH? While I can understand the basic premise that others have advocated, I simply cannot agree that I'll end up getting an interview before he will, as his package is already sitting in the embassy in Moscow (and has been for about a week) while mine is buried somewhere in Vermont. Grrrrrrrr...[gnashing my teeth]

Ok thanks, just needed to vent. (again) Thanks for listening...

It does unfortunately, at some stage of the process someone will overtake you, I think most of us have had that happen.

honestly you have to be patient. you're not the only person who is waiting for their petitions to be approved, and youre not the only person who has had their petition skipped over or passed by another person who filed before you.

Yes I know that my petition has already been approved and that we are just waiting for the embassy to give us an interview date, but still we waited like everyone else.

It sucks A LOT believe me, I know. But, and I know you dont want to hear it, but you're lucky to be filing at VSC where things move a lot quicker. Also, when you see people who filed before you, at least you know yours should be approved soon, pending everything goes smoothly with your petition.

i know your frustration, believe me, as I'm sure everyone here knows your frustration, but you just gotta relax because you are only on the first step of this process and are already tripping. I know it sucks, it sucks for everyone. This is the worst thing I HAVE ever gone through and i find that trying tokeep a level head has helped a little.

good luck

Teresa and I have discussed the frustration thing from time to time. We have had good days and bad. I think what hurts a lot of people is the excitement and emotion of choosing to spend their life together, then the rushing around and double triple quadruple checking the dotting of every i and every t

Then we submit our papers, and................................wait

From the momment the NOA1 is registered you no longer have any imput or control over the process - Its the old saying of hurrrying up to wait. And thats where the frustration comes in. You can not plan, you cant guess when the process will kick in, you realise you are just part of a mountain of paperwork in some office.

So all we can all do is wait - we know the process works, people do get approved and do get to start their lives. And in a funny way sites like this dont help. Although it is a fabulous resource for the journey you undertake, sadly it reinforces how slow and frustrating the process is.

And one final point - sure you are doing tough and missing your partner and such - but having gone through this process, how good is it going to be when you do finally get to be with them. It will make you so appreciate how lucky you are to have that person in your life, who was prepared to stick with you through this horendous process

I think it's a bit like queues at the supermarket... some people get lucky and zoom right through, but other people join the line where some little old lady has forgotten her PIN and then are stuck tapping their foot while people who arrived later are already walking out the door ;)

I understand the frustration, but I think if it's getting you down this much, OP, then it's time to take a break from analysing the stats and looking at other people's dates; honestly... it's the one way in which I think VJ can actually be detrimental; we are all so stoked to see all the information available when there's virtually none forthcoming from anywhere else, but then we start to compare everyone's journey to our own and can, if we're not careful, start to obsess about it

and I speak from experience; I filed at CSC last July, and shared my NOA1 date with eight other people; when those eight had ALL been approved and our lonely petition was still waiting, I felt VERY despondent... I had to really step back, see it for what it was, go light on the VJing for a few days, and just wait it out

with the mass of petitions the two service centres receive, there is simply NO WAY they can be processed in strict order, and to even attempt to do so would probably add significant time to the procedure... I'm not saying it's great, but it's not the worst thing in the world, and it's a level of 'unfair' that I think I can deal with (like the supermarket queues ;) ) (mostly ;) )

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

The BIG detriment to people on VJ has been this silly "May Filer", "July Filer", etc thing. I don't know who came up with that bright idea, but they should probably be bludgeoned publicly. Waiting is hard to do. It's even more difficult to deal with if half or more of the people in your happy little "June Filer!!!!111" group have already been approved and you're still waiting for a single touch. Not to mention the whole segregation thing... "Don't talk to HER....she's a MAY filer!" An exaggeration maybe, but I don't, for the most part, see these "XXX Filers" posting outside of their happy little cliques.

Stop comparing your case to everyone else. That's the secret bit of knowledge I'll pass on to everyone. Just ignore any and everything to do with immigration/visas. Hell, avoid VJ until you have your NOA2. Use VJ to help with the process, then leave until you need VJ again. Once your SO is here, you can come back to VJ to stay. Then you can just compare willies or truck size rather than processing times.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.
