I think that Nita&Assad made this comment because of Amastar's previous post mentioning Mexicans.. it seems that he blames Mexicans for his delay and inaction from his congressman. He repeatedly says that he is taking the "legal way" that seems to imply that mexicans are all about the "illegal" way. If that is the case, then congressman should have plenty of time to see after amastars requests. We are all here in line waiting for our approvals, and if we feel we must highlight a particular race then we must place more care on our words.

Hey, come on guys ... we're all against the illegal immigration situation, that's why we're doing this legally.

I've seen a couple of postings by illegals on this forum trying to fix their status, and instead they get their heads chewed off .... Amastar just highlighted the problem .... the exact problem which causes a mass movement against immigration in the States. A situation we are ALL caught up in this website.

I'm sure if it was a ton of English people that kept jumping over fences and scrabbling under them to live in the US Amastar would mention them instead .... but it's not, it's people from Mexico .

However, if it was the English, I could understand the complaints, because all we do is drink tea and talk about the weather all the time.

In England, we also have a mass immigration problem ... but I can never understand it because the weather is rubbish ...

Well I saw in a different way, I saw something to this remark from him before in a different topic before, and I didn't Appreciate his remark before, and I decide to say something this time!

Thanks

I'm sorry you felt this way. I simply meant that I am sure my senator has a lot of immigration issues to deal with since I believe a lot of Mexican citizens immigrate through Texas and California. I did not mean to insinuate that Mexicans are immigrating illegally so he should look at my case because I'm doing it the right way. I simply meant that I am just trying to follow the rules here to get my wife here as opposed to any nationality who immigrates illegally.

For the record, I am Spanish. I'm not sure if you are trying to insinuate that I'm a racist against latino people or something but that couldn't be further from the truth.

I could not agree more with what Kitty said!!! Ask yourselves this, if they are illegal why would they be slowing down the immigration system, especially for Amastar since his time is not even up!!! yes there is illegals, but illegals from all countries and ethnicities just like Kitty said..And just because a person speaks Spanish doesn’t mean they are from Mexico. I understanding your anxiety about wanting to be with your spouse, but come on think before you speak and write anything down that might offend someone even if in a subtle way.

I'm not trying to be rude here but I really have no idea what you are talking about.

When did I "imply that mexicans are all about the illegal way?"

Again, I'm sorry if I offended anyone. That was not my purpose by posting what I wrote to my senator.

For the record. I still don't see anything wrong with what I wrote. Never once did I impy that it was MEXICANS that were illegally immigrating.

How many times a day do you read on these forums about people who are frustrated because we are all doing it the right way instead of the people who are doing it illegally and getting to be with their loved ones immediately?

I really think you and Kitty are reading too much into this.

Also, I never said I spoke spanish but half of my family DID come over from Mexico and I was raised in a mexican house hold my entire life.

I grew up on menudo too. lol

I completely agree with your post. People who want to see a problem will always find one.

Here is my story. I've lived problem free life, payed my taxes. One day I decided to marry this girl. But to do so would require her to come to US of A, and so it started. My problem free live turned in to free problems from USCIS! Sure things turned to unsure, certain dates turned to aproximation within months. All logical thinking was out the door, as I filed my papers withing famous Vermont Centre!

Love tea by the way... and I am not english.. perhaps in my past life?

Everyone loves to look to another to blame for their particular problem. I happen to live in the very same state amastar is complaining of. Never in my entire life did feel most uncomfortable but here..

You see.. these feelings don't stop with "illegals" and yes there is illegals from all countries and ethnicities.. the way the enter is the difference. How many posts we read day in and out of ppl entering the country and overstaying?? Hey.. they didnt "jump" over or under any fence.. they flew in. Is that the difference? Comeon.. when and if ppl would be complaining of the same from the english.. and just because you are english you are tied to derogatory remarks and racism.. you'd feel differently. These come in all forms.. some direct and others ever so subtle.

I'm pleased I'm not the only who likes tea ... maybe you were English :)

I agree about looking at others to blame, and I've seen a ton of it on here .... and yes, people do fly in and overstay ... and yes most of us on here haven't done that.

The illegal situation in the US however is always mainly directed at the Mexicans, as Amastar pointed out ... and has been for many many years .... it's what the government talk about sorting out all of the time, and sadly, we (those who are following the immigration process as properly as possible) are frowned upon too because of it.

The whole thing is a shame.

At least the big 'melting pot' seems to work better in the US .... it doesn't in my country due to being a lot smaller.

To be honest, I'm surprised that the race issue doesn't come up more often on here .... whether it's Mexicans; Russians; English or whoever. Maybe the 'melting pot' scenario works on VJ better than anywere.

However, even though I'm English, it doesn't mean to say that I too haven't been on the receiving end of racial remarks during my lifetime; infact I do believe that all nationalities, creeds, religions etc. feel the impact of it at some time or another.

This is a hard website to belong to, we're all hurting, we're all frustrated with our situation, and we're all looking for someone to blame somewhere .... whether it be a nationality, our partners for filling out the paperwork wrongly, K1 filers, H1-B filers ..... or a government agency.

The fact still remains, that we are all stuck in this limbo, until someone somewhere pulls out our carefully put together packets and bothers to input our details .... only then can we move on and start to live our lives.

Well, this is all a little serious for me, so I'm going back to trying to think of the funny side to all of this .... and, yes, there is a funny side, as there is to everything ..... even though it doesn't feel like it at times.

Kip, Agree  .. I have always loved diversity.. and believe there is something to learn from each one. Years ago, I was on a quest for trying the different foods, sadly I had to give that up as the lbs started to find me!!

Amastar, np. I was also sensitive to hearing mexicans along with immigration problem! Everywhere I turn there is another news article or comment, I know its election year and it became the highlight.. I am still trying to adjust to this state where much to my surprise I have found myself being subjected to mistreatments and comments about mexicans!
