The CR-1/IR-1 will take precedence over the K-3. The K-3 will no longer be issued.

Aussiewench , how about if they get their k-3 issued and CR-1/IR-1 is in the middle of the process at NVC? What can they do?

Aussiewench , how about if they get their k-3 issued and CR-1/IR-1 is in the middle of the process at NVC? What can they do?

What would they like to do?

One could enter the US on the K-3 and return to the consulate when the process is complete at NVC, forwarded and interview scheduled for the CR-1, thus re-entering the US, gaining a green card and not having to adjust status as one has to do with the K-3........or if you are lucky enough to have the process completed at NVC, forwarded to consulated and interview scheduled prior to departing for the US with the K-3 one can interview and gain the CR-1 visa. Or one can enter the US on the K-3 and inform NVC that you no longer wish to continue processing at NVC and the approved I-130 would be returned to USCIS so one can adjust status in the US.

Someone correct me if I screwed that up please :P

It varies depending on the office you are required to go through.....it can be anything from a few months to a couple of years. If you go to the top of the page to the processing times.......go to the District Offices and select the one relevant to you.
