Hi Cloe, yes, stay positive and i hope that your lawyer will soon get your paperworks so he'll be able to send it to CSC and get your NOA1 soon and be able to update your timeline.

I'm so glad i didnt agree with my fiance to hire a lawyer,i told him i can do it and that's what i did.i just sent everything to him and all he did was sign all the forms that needed his signature and insert all his documents.i even included a small plastic bag where placed his passport photo,i was even the one who wrote the CSC address to the envelope i sent him :)

good luck to you and your fiance.God bless.

Hi Jeff & Cloe! We've been hearing same problems with hiring lawyers. I don't know what's the reason behind those delays. It will really take time just with contacting and communicating to them. VJ members seem faster than them when it comes to replying. :D

Hope things get better.

All the best! :)

:(:crying:

Hi maria, I want to keep my self positive hehehe I am not reading anything about lawyers anymore hahaha I am avoiding topics like that because as of now we are stuck between the two big words "WHAT?" and "WHAT?" hahahaha and this morning my fiance told me to email the lawyer as he also did that twice hahaha there were so many things I want to say to our lawyer but I thought it would be nice if I will be so good with just a LITTLE touch of pressure on the lawyer's part hahaha

Good thing you already have NOA from USCIS ayyy! Congrats for the NOA1. I think if we receive NOA1 we will be jumping in happiness knowing that the lawyer already made something good for us, yes very true a NOA1 will make us very VEY happy as of now hahaha.

Cloe&Jeff

Hi Cloe, I was actually wandering when you told me $500 was the fee for the whole process, from filing till you get to the US when I have read it costs thousands hiring a lawyer. Well, anyway, you have the choice to cancel his service and be be able to calm your minds than keep worrying the whole process..haha! Seem you hired a lawyer to get headaches instead of keeping yourselves lax on this process, hehehe.

Good day sis! Things will be fine soon, keep hoping.

God Bless.

Here I am again, I have been hearing a lot about California Service Center to being so slow, my fiance is from Michigan, would it be possible to file in Vermont Service Center instead.

We are now starting to regret hiring a lawyer for some reasons that everything seems to me much slower because we have to send the documents to the lawyer before the lawyer can send our documents to USCIS, and so far the lawyer have not received yet the priority envelop we sent to them with our documents last April 15, 2008...

Since that is our situation now, we are thinking of requesting to file in Vermont Service Center, I want to know if that is possible.

Thank you so much.

God bless us all.

Cloe&Jeff

Hmmmm, now if you were to become a resident of an east coast state just long enough to file with VSC and then after it hits NVC change your residence back to Michigan. You know Americans move a lot. Not suggesting anything of course????

Hi Maria, yes the first lawyer we inquire charge thousands of $$$ but we find the website 4thelegalgroup.com and they only charge $500... yes very true we hired a lawyer to get some headaches hahaha

Until now they have not received our documents (according to them)... I always wake up so early just to see if the lawyer's email, and for the past few morning I am having sad mornings, ayyyy I told you NOA1 will really make us very very very happy because we know we are waiting for something, unlike the kind of waiting we have now hahah we don't actually know what to expect haha!

haha Thanks, for now we have to wait until Friday, if they did not received our papers by Friday we will do it on our own and cancel the lawyer and we'll just think that we lost $500 (lawyer's fee), good thing I sent two copies of everything (it has a purpose hehehe)...

We'll keep you posted on the next episode of our funny yet frustrating I-129F filing with the lawyer...

What has the lawyer done for you so far? If he hasn't received your paperwork, maybe you can be issued a refund for part of what you paid. I paid $2000 for my attorney and regret that decision daily.

Did your attorney request that you pay the petition fee to him or did you make the check out to the USCIS? If the check was made out to the USCIS, I would cancel it and chalk the attorney up to a loss and continue this process on your own with the help of fellow VJ'ers. One thing I discovered during my wait for an approval is that I want full control of this process and due to hiring an attorney, I do not have any control.

Since your fiance has a copy of everything, I would file the petition yourselves.

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear that you paid a whooping $2,000 for the lawyer. Philippine time, yesterday our lawyer e-mailed us and he finally received our documents and it was sent to CSC, and it made us feel good somehow because all the while we thought we lost all the documents we sent them because it took a week before they received it but the fact that we sent it in priority meaning 3 days. Check was payable to USCIS.

We were actually thinking of doing it on our own but since the lawyer already sent it yesterday, we'll just keep positive about this lawyer thing. In fairness with our lawyer, so far he has not done anything that made us feel mad yet just that the process became slower.

We'll update you more on our journey together with the Lawyer hehehe!

Best for all of us. God bless.

So sorry to hear about all the lawyer fees. When I first started to file my petition everyone advised that I get a lawyer to make sure everything was done right. I just told them I can't afford a lawyer so I will do it myself. I didn't care how long it would take me as long as in the end I will be with the one I love. Thanks goodness I found VJ since I was really in a jam for the first few steps and with the help of everyone in VJ, I was able to make it through and got an interview date.

Its all for LOVE..
