Renata,

I am very happy to hear that. But I also have to tell my wife the same thing, Don't get too excited about something and expect the worse until you have all of the facts. In fact I sometimes wait to tell my wife somethings until I do have all of the facts because I know that she will worry about things.

And now, you should make sure that your husband is doing everything that he needs to be doing to prepare for Packet 3.

I don't believe them. I will call them in one hour again and ask - JUST TO MAKE SURE. Geez... they like messing with our heads. I was crying all day and trying to comfort myself and my husband... now I call again, they say my case is on its way to Rio?! WHAT?!

I mean, it's weiiiird. They like driving me nuts I guess.

Renatchi,

I'm so happy for u, ur having a rlly fast visa journey ! I just wonder why did they send ur husband a bill then if they was going with the I-129F? did they by mistake, processed both ?

I am, aren't I?! I am scared! But also very happy!

I asked myself the same question. Why would they say they mailed my husband a bill if they mailed Rio de Janeiro my I129F? I even asked the guy, he said they were two different process, and whatever gets there first, they adjucate?! What????????? Now they are doing both?!

That's why I am going to call them again.

Thanks, you guys, for your support!

Loolinette,

I have actually read this happening alot in the forums. I think you just ignore the bill if you are pursuing the K3. Also, I see we were both approved the same day, 29 may, so our petitions should reach the NVC sometime next week.

Renatchi,

But if your husband does not get on the ball and start helping you with this, I would not rule out reaching through the phone and punching him out.

For me, nothing is more important than me and my wife being together. I would not even think about letting her go to the interview alone. I know they will not let me say anything, but the least that I could do is give her moral support.

Well I guess me and my wife are pretty lucky. I am of course doing most of the research and everything because her english isn't very good. And I am keeping her informed of all of the steps and what needs to be done. But she has done as much research as she can find in spanish. And she knows excatly what needs to be done. Today she finished up on her vaccinations and she is working on her police certificates from Buenos Aires and Lima. And we constantly discuss where we are in the process and what we still need to do so that we are both prepared and can speed up the process as much as possible. Our feeling is that we are both in this together and we are both just as committed to being together.

The problem with her is some of her research is reading info on univision, and alot of the people on univision are only talking about all of the problems they are having and there denials. So at times she gets very worried.

But I want to be with her for as many of the steps as possible. There was not even a question about if I would be there with her for the interview. After the NOA2, it is the most important part of the process. So I will be there by her side, holding her hand and trying to keep her relaxed. When i was there last weekend, we filled out the papers she is going to need to fill out for the packet 3, since they are in english. This way when she receives the packet 3, she will just have to copy everything and sign it. When she receives the packet 3, I may even try to travel to Buenos Aires to ensure that all paperwork is completed perfectly.

For me and my wife both, the most important thing in our lives at this point in time. is that this process goes as smooth as possible and we are together as soon as possible.

Because she gets so worried at times, we have even discussed what we would do if she could not get the visa for some reason. I did not even have to think about it. I have an extremely good job, but if it was the only way for us to be together, I would quit my job, move to Buenos Aires and sell fruits and vegetables on the streets of Buenos Aires.

But i also have to admit that it is a little easier for me to travel than most. I work for an airline so I fly for very cheap. And we recently bought an apartment in Buenos Aires, so it doesn't cost me much to travel to be with my wife. The hardest part is getting the time off work. But, even if i had to sell my motorcycle for the money, I wouldn't miss her interview.

Loolinette,

Yes, the average time from NOA2 to NVC is 10 to 14 days. that is next week, Monday to Thursday. Then they usually send the K3 to the consulate the next day. And it averages around 4 or 5 days to be received at the consulate.

But, even if i had to sell my motorcycle for the money, I wouldn't miss her interview.

Steve, my husband hired an attorney exactly because he didn’t want to worry about these Visa things. He has a very tough work. He said that he just wants me asap here and that the attorney should do everything for me to be there as fast as possible. He does nothing without talking to the attorney. I, on the other hand, am very interested on how things go, what to do, etc etc. He told me to stop visiting VJ because that would drive me crazy and that if I had a question, I should talk to the attorney because that’s what we hired her for. But whenever I have questions she, the attorney, never answers and when she does, she says she’s too busy to answer things she already explained and little doubts that I have.

I also know exactly what I need to do and what my husband needs to do. I filled out all of our forms and assembled all his and my documents. I did the entire job for the attorney. I know how things work now and am anticipating a lot of things. BUT he still wants to hear from the attorney. =(

Our problem is that my husband has recently been hired to a new job. He got the job when he came back to the USA after our wedding. The company switched states, so he moved from Seattle to Portland. His boss didn’t allow him to come, he said that he understands that this is very important, but if my husband is not obligated to attend the interview, then he couldn’t excuse him. Another thing is money. My husband has paid for a lot of things when he came plus the attorney and fees for USCIS. When he moved, he had to pay for a lot of things as well. So, it’s very hard for him to raise all that trip and fees money to come here again in such a short time. The Embassy is in Rio and I live in São Paulo. So it would be his trip to Brazil, his and my trip to Rio, hotel in Rio, fees for the consulate, my exams here in Brazil, my vaccines, my trip back to USA. Imagine that? I have an apartment here in São Paulo, so he wouldn’t pay for staying here with me but it's so little time.....

You undestand now?!

I wish he could come though.... :crying:

Also, with the experience that I have had with lawyers, I do not like to use them unless I absolutly have to. Steve! No, don't get me wrong! I never meant that you were making a judgment! I was just venting! Sorry!

You and your wife are very lucky indeed!

Thank you for your support! I will call US Embassy on Friday and see if I have an interview date yet!

What does Priority Date means?! NVC said my priority date was 29th April?! HUH?

But I am sure that all will go very well for you and your interview!!! And I know that yesterday was a very emotional day for you, so I hope that you are having a better day today.

HUH?

Renata

I am not sure what the priority date means. I think that it only has to do with the USCIS process, but i am not sure. I know that if your look at your NOA2 you will see that date. Because on my NOA2 it says my priority date is 30th April.

The priority date is the date that they received the I129F. I don't know what they will do with that though...

Weird... lol

Maybe they'll use it to schedule my interview?!

Renatchi,

OK, the priority date only matters if it is a non-family petition, however all petitions are given a priority date. The US puts a limit on the number of visas that can be given out. So this priority date is your priority for receiving a visa. However, if it is a spouse visa, your priority date is automatically current because there are no restrictions on the number of family visas. So the priority date for us has no meaning on our cases.

" am the beneficiary (applicant) and my case is at NVC. Now what happens?

This depends on whether or not your case is current. If your visa category is an immediate relative category (spouse, parent or child (under 21) of a U.S. citizen) then your case is automatically current. If your visa category is one of the family preference or employment categories, there are legal limits on the number of visas that can be issued in each category and in most categories, the demand is higher than those limits. In these categories, waiting lists have been established based on your priority date, which is the date your sponsor filed your petition with the CIS. Cutoff dates established by the Visa Office determine when your petition will be reached for processing. Your petition can only become current and thus ready for further processing when the cutoff date in your visa category has advanced up to your priority date. "

Hope this helps explain

No, not at NVC yet, but it was just approved last Thursday, so I'm not expecting it to be there until next week. I do, however, still call the NVC every day to see if it is there yet. There are some people that it only takes a few days to arrive at the NVC.
