Visa to Italy

Hi all,

We are planning to go to Italy for vacation this year, but just realized we need a visa. Does anyone have any experience in getting a visa for any country in europe, especially Italy, for your wives (Green card holders). I am having a lot of problems contacting the embassy, they simply don't pick up the phone or hang up without even talking. There's no visa needed for US Citizens, but my wife only has a GC, so we need to get one.

Any siggestions?

As long as you buy her some travel insurance it shouldn't be a problem. Hotel reservations wouldn't hurt. Go to the website of the embassy and look at the info there.

Unless I'm mistaken (and someone will correct me if I am), your wife will have to apply for a Schengen visa through the Italian Embassy. If you look at their website, it leads you to what, if any, visa is appropriate depending on nationality and residence. Here's a link.

I know that my fiance recently used a travel agency in Russia to obtain her Schengen visa to Italy. It wasn't cheap, but it was much more convenient for her. Don't know about U.S. travel agencies. Even if you found one, I would think that it's probably alot cheaper to DYI, and it's probably a relatively simple process. I know this probably doesn't help you much. Good luck!

for a finnish visa my guy just went to the consulate and applied with travel insurance.
