Hubby May I

I do like Camels of the Sand!

Well for 1 thing Mohamed didnt post that one! He posted how a wife should take care of husband. We have talked about everything including this subject. People need to pay attention what he put on then JP put that one.

You're right, JPaula did post that one.. although it is done by the same man. So do you disagree then with one of his articles? That's quite alright to do so.

I dont know what u think or dont really care! I will never allow a man to hit me Ever ! Who cares how much money u make that makes u no better than any one !

listen babe, your boyfriend brought the topic of my "expensive time" up, not me!

You know I think he may have meant "precious." And yes, he is the one who brought it up, not chaishai.

I hope so! Because when he said expensive and followed it up with the shalom I assumed it was a dig, but I could be sensitive because i DID receive a similar dig earlier this week from someone in the real world! I also have a hard time understanding who is posting under that ID, supposedly they both share it but sometimes the poster is inferring that they are the woman but then the english doesnt seem like the first language so I dont know. Who knows, who cares!

Here is a link that gives a limited explanation. http://www.religionwriter.com/reviews/book...-lightly-verse/

There are a couple of authors that tackle it more deeply, and if you are interested, PM me and I will respond with titles. It breaks to basically what the article says though, that the word can also mean "strike out" as in a journey". One of the authors goes more into the actual form of the word in Arabic and why she believes hitting is not the correct interpretation, comparing other uses of the word in the Qu'ran.

Also, I don't know if not agreeing with hitting is rejecting part of faith. People have different opinions on whether the Qur'an is frozen or something meant to be interpreted for different times, or meant to evolve. For example, the prohibition on alcohol was given in increments. The Qur'an and Sunnah set the framework for abolishing slavery. Polygyny was limited by the Qur'an rather than a new permission. Striking a wife lightly, if interpreted that way, is clearly a restriction, not an endorsement or injunction for a man to hit his wife. One choosing not do so is not rejecting something we are commanded to do. Also, being that the Prophet never engaged in it and advised others not do to so, it can be understood that it was not desirable and should not be done. It can be argued this would be the natural evolution - first limiting a society that had no problem in abusing women and then eliminating it all together by the example of the Prophet. Rejecting part of one's faith IMO is rejecting something that is something that is not desired to begin with, but something that is an undebatable element, such as prayer.

If you are talking about me no I would not accept to be hit at all. I know I dont have to worry about that any way.

you say this, but your sheik you quoted in your first post on this thread says differently.... no naturally we assume you must be ok with it, seeing as you quoted what this shiek said as a good thing.

 ignore

if you like what you read so dont read it.dont waste your expensive time shalome

My time IS expensive. I make $85 an hour. How much will you make when you are here and actually working (if that happens) vs. resting and laying down the law with your wife with your light punches? How did you know my time is expensive? Surely you arent stereotyping?

LOL.....sorry this made me chuckle.

Two words for men, KATHERINE KNIGHT

Just a feel good story

On or about 29 February 2000, Knight stabbed Price to death with a butcher's knife while chasing him around their home. Her fury was reportedly triggered by the AVO Price had filed against her the previous week.

The autopsy revealed that Price had been stabbed at least 37 times, in both the front and back of his body. Many of the wounds were deep and extended into vital organs.

After Price was killed, Knight skinned him and hung his skin from a meat hook on the architrave of a door in their lounge room. She then decapitated him and placed the head in a pot on the stove, baked flesh from his buttocks, and prepared vegetables and gravy to serve as a meal to his children, which was accompanied by vindictive notes from Knight. Police found the meal before the children arrived home.

The pot was full of liquid and on the surface I could identify a skinned human head and a number of cooked vegetables. On the northern side of the aluminum boiler I saw a baking dish which was sitting across the right front side element. Inside the baking dish I saw an amount of liquid and the remains of baked vegetables. Just to the right or northern side of the cook top I saw two prepared meals. Each of the meals consisted of two pieces of cooked meat, baked potato, baked pumpkin, zucchini, cabbage, yellow squash and gravy. Underneath each of the meals was a torn section of kitchen paper with a name written on it. The word "Beaky" was written in blue ink pen on one of the pieces while the word "Jonathon" was on the other. The pieces of meat appeared on the plates were similar to the piece I collected from the rear lawn.

Am I strange that I find this interesting?

I discussed this with my husband last night and he's adament that hitting is NOT allowed in Islam in any way. He said something else, which I really didn't understand and was wanting to post it here. He may post under this topic so if something shows up totally out of context for me.......it's him :star: My husband also knows what would happen if he ever layed a hand on me. My dad made it clear to him too! LOL! I will NEVER have a man hit me again. BTW......how do you "not allow" a man to hit you?

I find it interesting that this yahoo posts how to make a husband happy. How about making his "wife" happy? Why wouldn't he be posting that? Shouldn't that be his top priority?

If you are talking about me no I would not accept to be hit at all. I know I dont have to worry about that any way.

So then do you just not accept that part of Islam?

Whether it is a part of Islam is debatable. Not everyone translates the word in the ayat that people say means a man can strike his wife the same way.

I've never heard this was debatable. So what are the alternative translations? I don't care one way or the other, but I always am somewhat curious about why people accept or reject certain things of faith based on the evidence. If it is translated in different ways that is definately a reason to disagree and would support any disagreement. What really sparked my curiosity, and of course she is totally free to not respond, is that her husband had posted this and so one would think he agreed with it and she stated a dissention. Hitting of any kind seems like it would be a more major kind of issue that two people should agree on.

Here is a link that gives a limited explanation. http://www.religionwriter.com/reviews/book...-lightly-verse/

There are a couple of authors that tackle it more deeply, and if you are interested, PM me and I will respond with titles. I agree-- in that I don't see it as a major pillar of the Islamic faith at all... But I was aiming more at what you touched on with wether or not that would involve disagreement with the Qu'ran, and thus is it static or....? I'm glad you understood my question. I'm going to look at your link when I get home. I'll PM you if I have any questions.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.
