I just googled it:

The traditional Gummi Bear is made from sugar, glucose syrup, starch, flavouring, food coloring, citric acid, and gelatin. There are also some types of Gummi Bears made with pectin or starch instead of gelatin, making them suitable for vegans.

Gummi bears made with either bovine or porcine gelatine are not suitable for vegetarians and do not conform to kashrut or halal dietary laws. Those made with bovine gelatine are not suitable for Hindus.

Some of them are made from stuff to do with pigs and cow type creatures

Okay so...

The only Heinz beans available around here are "Heinz Vegetarian Beans" in a green can.

Is this what I should stock up on for him?

He can't stand the Bush's, especially the flavor I like... "Maple Cured Bacon".

No worries, I'll open one can of Bush's for me and the kids, and I'm sure he'll finish off a can of Heinz on his own!

Haribo's AWESOME. That's another thing you brits can kiss goodbye when you get here in the land of the brave and free and opportunity and all that. Well...our stores have started carrying just the bears, sure. But all those crazy ones, and the bestest of course the starmix with the hearts and eggs BYE BYE.

BUT you can order it off amazon quite cheap. For Christmas I bought Iain like five pounds of twin cherries off of Amazon for I think $15

gummi bears are the BEST... I remember my first time eating some 'proper' ones when I first visited Germany in 1991 *old*

always looked for Haribo after that, even though they were very hard to get in Australia for ages
