Heinz Baked Beans

Wow five pages, eh?? I now know that if I need some fun reading, all I have to do is come over here to the UK forum and start a food dialogue.

With that said, I mentioned to Mum that I had found Heinz beans, and she asked if I saw any of the Heinz Curry Beans in my travels, because she can't even find those in Canada. Although I just usually put some curry powder in them and I think they taste the same.

Also, what about self raising flour (I have not looked very hard for this yet though)?

Okay so...

The only Heinz beans available around here are "Heinz Vegetarian Beans" in a green can.

Is this what I should stock up on for him? :D

He can't stand the Bush's, especially the flavor I like... "Maple Cured Bacon".

No worries, I'll open one can of Bush's for me and the kids, and I'm sure he'll finish off a can of Heinz on his own!

This is a pic of the can you'll want to purchase:

Why thank you. :)

But as an American reading the label... "Baked Beans in Tomato Sauce"... I would naturally expect it to be baked beans in red spaghetti sauce. I'm guessing it's not.

I can't wait to discover for myself the exact appeal of "beans on toast". Anyone care to explain?

Sounds repulsive, but I'm sure it's... edible.

... yuck but the Bush's Vegetarian are the closest if you can find them locally, but luckily my local supermarket has an "International" area that sells Heinz Baked beans...and Bachelor Baked Beans ... which I like better :)

 They are the BEST :star:

I think it's possible that the appeal of beans on toast has to be ingrained from an early age, otherwise the appeal is simply not as strong :P

Meh, beans on toast is alright. I've had it like...twice. Totally edible and good if you're hungry. Think it is ingrained probably. I love Chef Boyardee spaghetti sandwiches for god's sake, who would I be to talk :P

I actually have been procrastinating not doing my essay for awhile and just came across this recipe beans sandwich

baked beans, onion, tomato, cheese and bacon on english muffins :P Hey it's got a five star rating, I bookmarked the dang thing :D

FYI I went by the store today and Harris Teeter here DOES have Heinz brand (love the purdy color of the can). I think it was like $2.80ish whereas Van Camp's was like 80 cents. Screw that. Thought maybe it'd be cheaper here in the south but noooos.

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

Hopefully not, then I'll be spared from having to eat all of those deliciously fattening dense sponge puddings. :P

I have actually had the Heinz beans and to me the are quite bland. They taste like beans in the sauce from Spaghettios. Not terrible, just not really exciting to the palate, IMO.

Am I the ONLY person that doesn't actually mind Walmart?

I don't mind the Super Walmart they recently opened here. It's clean, tidy, and if you time your visit right, not too many people shopping.

However yesterday we were at the other end of town and there was a Walmart there. I needed a cheap belt so we stopped to see if they had one there. It was a horrible dirty nasty place. I actually said as we left, now I see why everyone hates walmart so much

On the down side, we found some Spicy Sweet Chilli Doritos there (And they're pretty much the same as the ones in the UK in the red bag which are my all time favourite flavour) so we might have to go there again as they are the only place we've seen them since the first time we got them a few weeks ago :(

As for the other things, Heinz Beans, HP sauces and Ribena (and a couple of the Robinsons drinks) are readily available down here in Publix so that's ok :D

Real love stories never have endings...

What the heck is suet...is it some kind of meat product? In pudding? Omg you guys stop eww.

I had bread pudding once in Edinburgh at this restaurant called Howie's. Only it was cheating. It was dark chocolate bread pudding and huge and hot and omg the best thing EVER. So delicious....

It's true that older non-super Walmarts tend to really suck and be really disgusting, same goes for the Kmarts that are left around here. I don't even think about those though, they're just like...huge bleak dollar stores or something.

My hometown's sheriff office is in the Walmart
