I can do without the cheese...I have gained over a stone since moving to the UK because I love the cheese so much. I have found the cheese that Glyn and I eat most here over there in the States, its a crumbly cheshire cheese but its expensive.

Glyn and I are hoping to open a Breakfast place where you can get a REAL FULL ENGLISH BREAKFAST. We are most concerned with finding some good sausage so we may end up having to make them ourselves.

Try this site...

I personally have not used them, but our Director at work has (his mum is a brit) so they get an awful lot of brit meat from there. It would probably be cheaper if you bought the meat wholesale etc but if you do decide to open up a B&B then maybe try them out.

I bet it's not that hard to make sausage yourself though, I think a lot of places in the UK do it. There's this place called Monster Mash in Edinburgh (not sure if it's a chain?) that features different sausages every day. I was always under the impression that they made them themselves.

Had never heard of World Market but just looked it up and it looks pretty cool :o Apparently there's one in Charleston AND in Greenville which is one town over from my permanent address, so totally gotta check it out, thanks. It's all oooh :)

I took a part-time job with a butcher a few years ago. One, because I wanted to learn about the meats and cuts and things and, two, because I was bored for something to do after my full-time job. Anyhooo.... yes, they're simple enough to make yourself. You just add different ingredients to the meat. The problem lies in the fact that you'll have to use american pork. That's why you won't get it tasting the same as in the UK. But you might get close, depending upon the supplier. I sometimes just buy the pork and add my own ingredients, but I just form it into patties instead of into a casing. Makes it easier.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this but Cost Plus World Market sells them. Also if you want an alternative, Bush's makes a Vegetarian variety of baked beans that my husband says are even Better than Heinz...

This is a great thread! I never liked baked beans ( and I am from the Boston area lol ! ) I had a strong liking while in England for the baked beans they have, in a nice tomato base( I say tomato, you say tomahto lol ), usually our beans are in a supposed tomato base but i think more of a maple taste ... yuck but the Bush's Vegetarian are the closest if you can find them locally, but luckily my local supermarket has an "International" area that sells Heinz Baked beans...and Bachelor Baked Beans ... which I like better :)

Where I live there is a store British Imports that I'm sure we will be doing lots of shopping at ! :)

There are alot of US based stores you can buy the Heinz baked beans from if you can not find them locally

is it not sad I have a Bookmark file titled "English Food Suppliers" <-- should I print that in my K-1 application? lol

Lamb is another one, it's expensive here , but standard in loves home? What is an American girl to do LOL!
