I have no doubt she's just pandering to the undecided voters in PA. In fact, she may have just fumbled the sound bite that her advisers had planned for her to say, but I think she was trying to convey that she's tough on crime.

Grandstanding by Hilary, no more, no less. For a start, if Iran did manage to attack Israel with nuclear weapons, the USA would be looking at striking back against a radioactive wasteland, because Israel would, at that point, have no compunction about wiping Iran off the face of the planet.

Popular opinion is that the world got closest to a nuclear conflict in 1962, with the Cuban missile crisis. Reality differs, because in the Yom Kippur War in 1973, the Israelis had tactical nuclear weapons ready to fire should Egyptian soldiers set foot on Israeli soil, and they got very close. That was 35 years ago and Israel has not disarmed.

I doubt the Iranians would ever risk being that stupid, but, if they got close, the Israelis would never take the chance and would stike first (in a non-nuclear capacity) to eliminate the threat. Now it would be VERY interesting to hear how Clinton, Obama, or even McCain, would deal with THAT situation.
