I just wanted to start a new post for the Algerian Embassy,My spouse, my uncle and I contacted them personally 3 times For the I-134 Affidavit of Support They said it did not have to be an original signature. We were given the option to FAX it . I will go with the Color Photocopie. Just wanted to drop this information. I never knew how valuable information about small things such as signatures original or copie could make. I suggest everyone talk to the Consulates abroad before making personal decisions!! Thanks to everybody with great advice before. Hope this post will be useful in the future. If anybody has gone through any other country It'd be really helpful to post what you found out your consulate needed.

That's a good tip. I do recall that my brother-in-law, who is an attorney, once remarked to me that a signature on a fax is considered legally binding provided the signer intends it to be so. He told me this back around 1994, so I believe there's been a long history of precedence.

I've also seen online forms where it states something along the lines of, "typing your name in this box is the same as signing your name and is legally binding". However, I'm not sure if there are any specific laws regarding online forms or emails. A fax is easier to accept because you're receiving a reproduction of the actual signature.

As you've mentioned, it's probably best to contact your consulate/embassy to ensure they accept a fax. But I'm sure this tip will save some people time.

Thanks!
