Hi everyone!

I just got home from spending a week with my fiance in NC - I miss him :(

Anyway, while I was down there, we got our paperwork and evidence all sorted and labelled. I brought it home to look over it one more time and include a few pictures I had forgotten and I will send it back to him to mail to Vermont. Here are my questions

#1) How should the paperwork be bound? Do I staple or put in a folder or what? I dont want to do anything that will comprimise the validity of the package

#2) My fiance is in a house with a roomate, but is thinking about moving into an apartment soon so we will have our own place as soon as I get there. Should we hold off on sending the paperwork until his address has changed? ( it would be in the next few weeks), or is it an easy process to change the address through the service centre? I was figuring it would be less time and hassle if we just waited, although I hate the thought of holding off any longer :P I just want to get the ball rolling so we can be together :)

Any imput would be wonderful! thanks!

Jen

Hello Jen,

Here's the link that we got an idea for our I-129F application..

It worked and we didn't get an RFE.

It has all the information you need regarding your application.

With the address, i'm not sure what to advice but I think it's better to wait till he moved to his new address so that you won't need to inform the service center for it..it will take time also for changed of address.

Good luck!

Jenni, the center doesn't care at all how you bind the petition. When they receive it, they take it out of whatever folder/container/whatever you've put it in and put it in their own special little government folders anyway. You should hold it all together somehow so things aren't lost but don't go spending a bunch of money. I just put all of ours in a folder and put a big rubber band around it.

As for the address change, I didn't have to do it so I don't know the specific answer to your question. I'm pretty sure it's not a difficult process though. The USC is only asked to 'notify' the Center if the address is changed, and I don't think it causes any more problems or hassle than that. So I'd say you guys do whatever you'd have normally done, and don't worry about the petition and timing.

However I will say that even with your going through the fastest center, Vermont, you're probably not going to be in the country for 3 or 4 months at least. If you guys are pinched for money or anything and your fiance is going to live in the apartment alone until you arrive (when you'd shortly, hopefully, have 2 incomes instead of 1), then I would suggest thinking about him staying where he is for a month or two longer. It'd hopefully save money on rent in the long run.

Summer 2001 - met my Scottish boy

December 18th, 2007 - proposal in Madrid's Botanical Gardens with a duck standing behind him going 'food?'

January 18th, 2008 - I-129F sent to VSC

January 31st, 2008 - received NOA1, issued Jan. 24 :)

February 24th, 2008 - NOA2; omgwtfbbqlolz

February 29th, 2008 - NVC letter sent

Jen,

1) Technically, it's not important how you bind the paperwork or organize it, however with that in mind you don't want to just throw it all together. For us, we organized everything into the way that the examples on here show how to do. Just make sure it's organized, follow the guides as best as you can, and you'll be fine. As long as it's not a jumbled mess then it's okay. Just remember follow the GUIDES.

2. You can do either one. It's up to your discretion. It isn't hard to change an address, and even if you did change addresses he could still receive the mail from his old address and have his old roomies give it to him.

I noticed they updated the "tips" sections at the USCIS a couple of days ago. Use paper clips. The fee can be stapled (have to get those fees)! I wish this would have come out before my kids submitted their I 130 and I 129 F. I was scratching my head trying to figure out what ACCO fasteners were. They DO NOT want them (their caps, not mine).

My son is very good at a lot lot of things, but not attention to detail; hence I was enlisted. I do want my daughter-in-law here ASAP.

It's easy to change address, this is only done "online". (we did it too) I think, it's better not to wait until your fiance find a new place before he send off the package. If it's already prepared , why not send it now? you can change address online later on as soon your fiance find new apartment, and within 24 hours it's being changed already. Good luck.
