Original docs at interview

I just kept photocopies of the documents required on DS 230 packet, the originals I sent to NVC. Why do I have to take originals of birth and marriage certificate and police certificates to the interview??? I really don't understand that. Won't those originals be forwarded to our local Consulate for the interview???

Anyone who have already experienced the interview could tell me anything?

Thanks

You're right. Originals will be forwarded from NVC to Consulate. It is always take a full set copy of the originals with you, just in case.

Did you keep one set photocopy too in the DS-230 packet ? It is required.

Hi, did you read the embassy information here on this forum???? Read it, it has a lot a good information.

Now for the originals, the NVC dont care about the Birth cert, police reports and marriage license. the interviewing officer does. They are making sure they are originals best to their knowledge and not some $10.00 fake documents.

Plus why take chance of NVC losing those vaulable docs, when they can be presented at interview. Cause if you dont have those docs at interview, well there could go your chances of a visa. Your taking paperwork to interview anyways, whats a couple more pieces of paper.

Good luck!!

Paris Heart

Truly happy!!!

New life, new adventures, and a new attitude.

Yes, I did. I did that exactly to avoid having to take a "second" original of each document again...but it seems it didn't make any difference since I'll have to get new originals of everything all over again.

Sometimes I feel that we're so far away from having our case to be concluded. I've seen timelines that took 1 year and 3 months to get an interview, NVC taking 2 months to send your case to the local Consulate AFTER THEY COMPLETE THE CASE...unbelieveble.

I'm running out of hope sometimes...

thank you for replying.

Paris Heart, what I read on the forums, if NVC does not get originals, they would issue a checklist to the agent/beneficiary. If not sent it again, second checklist will be sent. After that, they will forward to Consulate. Each mail from NVC costs couple of months... Just a thought only... :star:

I-129F invalidated - No more K-3 visa!!! But still status shows "Case Received and Pending"

lotsofpatience, what do you mean by this? is this automatic?

we got our nvc case number for i-130 on april 15, and still waiting for the case number of i-129..... does that mean we're waiting for nothing? i'm still partial to getting a k3 visa coz i really want to be with my hubby already...

I think your I-129F will not be considered by NVC since already case# is assigned for I-130. I recommend you to go with I-130 now, since both are taking identical times... Forget about I-129F. Good luck to you :star:

When I talked to USCIS officer at the time of my I-130 approval, I was told my I-129F will be invalidated since I-130 is already approved. I don't know they will "administratively close" my I-129F. But on their website, I-129F still shows "Case Received and Pending".
