If I understood it correctly (from replies from my previous post), I could travel outside the US for NOT more than 6 months and I won't have any problem getting my I-751 petition approved. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Now, my questions are:

1. How long does it take to get the I-751 petition approved? Or how many months after we submit the I-751 will I get my unconditional GC?

2. During the process (after submitting I-751), while waiting for its approval, before receiving the actual unconditional GC, am I allowed to travel outside the US?

3. Maybe a silly question, do I have to be physically present in the US to file for I-751?

Please advise. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

0- As you stated it, not necessarily so. Trips of 6+ months interrupt your continuous presense for naturalization. Please see the page Now That You Are A Permanent Resident for tips on maintaining your PR status while outside of the US.

1-3-18 months, no telling how long. How long to get the new card also depends. Our order misfired and it took nearly 6 months to get the card after ordering it.

2- yes. a properly filed I-751 results immediately in a NOA extending your status for one year. This info is on the uscis.gov page How Do I Remove the Conditions on Permanent Residence Based on Marriage?

3- no. Info on this also on How Do I Remove the Conditions on Permanent Residence Based on Marriage?

This information is also posted in the pinned thread at the top of this forum.
