Hello,

I need help and I don't know where to start. My husband is from Tonga. He came here years ago, he says in 88 sometime. He was sponsored by his dad/uncle to come on a school visa, or at least that's what he says....anyways, he and I have been married since 1998, and ever since I had met him he has no papers. He lost all info long before I met him. passport, visa, social security card, EVERYTHING.

A few years ago we got a consult by a lawyer who said that he couldn't file anything because he lost everything. I am trying to find a way to fix his status. The I-130 Requires his I-94 number which we don't have, and don't know how to get a replacement, although it is already way expired.

So I came accross the I-817 form today and I am thinking I am going to try to apply for it. I need to find out if he meets the timeline requirement though for the time he was here in 1988. I am not sure I am really understanding this form, so if anyone is familiar with it, and could help me I'd appreaciate it ALOT.

ALSO, if there is something else you think I could do in regards to the situation, please let me know, I appreaciate all input on this matter.

THANKYOU!!! :star:
