If it weren't for the internet, I'd be very single and probably would have stayed that way. It is nearly impossible, to find someone special, when you are middle aged and have no normal network of singles to draw from. My friends and family no zero single people that I find attractive for a serious relationship. I'm not and could never get interested in the "bar scene". I wouldn't walk up to a lady at the grocery or clothing store to ask for their shopping advice hoping to get a little more. I truly can say, the internet is 100% responsible for opening doors that would have otherwise remain closed.

 I could have said the same thing, word-for-word myself - well, maybe not the "middle-aged" part, as I was 37 when I found Lai :P

Lai and I met on the Internet at a singles site. And we were both there actively, deliberately seeking a spouse (gasp!). I find it amusing how often people will say they met on the Internet, but then will be quick to point out that it was entirely accidental and they'd had no real intention of finding a spouse there, as if there were something weird or sad about people who purposely look for their mates that way, and they want to assure everyone they aren't losers ;)

The culture we live in calls that being needy.

I think of it more as recognizing what you need and going out to get it.

I'm happy for both of you :)

I don't think people who looked for a mate on the internet are losers :P

it is just how it worked out me... I didn't go to a chat room to meet someone... i was just bored and wanted to check out this chatting thing and I just happened to meet my future husband in a chat room:)

Thanks  Yep, it's called being proactive. If someone seeks a job or anything else they want that way, no one bats an eye....

because of culture and religion .......my choices were allow my family to help me find my life partner or look for one myself.....and again because of religion and culture dating is not gonna happen soooooooo..........with my families help i put my profile on muslimmatrimonial.com...........and went thru the process of selecting someone that i felt a relationship of love and respect could grow from...........so yup the Internet opened doors for me that would have been closed to most a few years ago........it took alot of talking from my side to get permission for that type of selection........but it all worked out thanks of God :)

i met my fiance while studying abroad...

we must keep in mind that a poll like this is biased towards international couples who met on the internet, simply because the poll is taking place on a website...international couples who met on the internet are more likely to be a part of this website than international couples who met other ways

Not necessarily, since this website is not a place where singles meet, but is for international couples who are seeking help/support with the process of being united in the States. Regardless of how an international couple met, they still have to get a visa for the alien fiancee/spouse to immigrate here.
