Some says that LDR won't work because of lack of trust, communication and etc...

You can give you opinion on how to workout this kind of relationship.

GOD bless to all of us.

I can't think of any good things probably because there isn't any.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I would say the the only good thing about a LDR is the excitement you feel meeting for the first time... or any trips going back and forth... getting to know, in most cases, a completely different lifestyle.. or just seeing things you've never seen before.. true.. once its all over it completely sucks because you know that soon one of you will be leaving.. but i know i wouldn't have traded my experience for anything.. sometimes my hubby and i talk and saying how awesome it would be if we'd have met years before.. so we could have spent even more time together.. but in reality.. i couldn't have imagined it going any more perfect that it did.. true.. the processes take way too long.. but thats just something you have to deal with when you do the long distance thing.. and if you're truely in love that i'm sure its more than worth it!

this is the second time for me and my hubby to go through this.. first time with me coming to the UK to live.. and after almost 16 months now.. we're finally about to move to the US... i'm looking forward to going back home (alabama) and he is looking very forward to his new life there.. he has visited 4-5 times.. honestly i lost count! lol.. Most times for 3 weeks.. i think once it may have been only for 2 weeks.. anyways i've completely gone off the subject!.. i think... i actually had to scroll up and look at the original post again.. i think i'm okay.. haha..

FYI - I'm American so all dates will be Month/Day/Year. (lol)

---------------------

10/19/03 - Spoke to him for the first time on mic through Yahoo! Pool.

10/26/03 - First 'I Love You' (The date we consider to be when we got together)

07/03/04 - He flew from U.K. to Alabama for a 2 week visit (Proposed)

12/26/04 - He flew again to Alabama for a 3 week visit

05/22/05 - I flew to U.K. for 1 month visit

09/2005 - He visited AL - 3 weeks(Really hard to remember some of the exact dates!

12/15/05 - I visit U.K. - 1 month

04/2006 - He Visits - 3 weeks

07/2006 - I Visit U.K. - 1 month

10/2006 - He Visits 3 weeks

12/28/2006 - I move to the U.K. (on Fiance Visa)

03/10/07 - Married

--------

12/05/07 - Form I-130 recieved by USCIS

02/23/08 - NOA recieved

02/28/08 - DS230 Part 1

02/03/08 - Sent for Police Certificate

02/05/08 - Medical in London

------------ Medical was fine!

04/17/08 - Finally sent off our Checklist and waiting for our interview date!

I've been in an LDR for about 6 years. It's not always easy, but it gives you plenty of time to work things out and to get to know each other in ways you can't if you're on top of each other all the time. There is a certain intimacy in the distance that can teach you patience, broaden the value you find in the time you do spend together. You learn to be direct and succinct in your communication. I liked the way it forced us to reveal our intellect, values and character rather than depending on so much on looks and sex appeal to keep the attraction going strong. He got his visa today, so it won't be long before our LDR is a thing of the past, insha'allah.

mileage!!

and seriously, it makes (at least for us) us think so much more about our relationship, just if it's really what we want. so 2 years into it, we are now very confident that i'll work out. and also: we talk a lot more, i mean about EVERYTHING. when i compare my relationship with those of my friends who are dating local guys, i notice we have progressed so much more in 2 year. we've discussed about avery single topic one can imagine.

and the number dont lie: people who leave thier own country to be with their SO have a lot higher succes rate then those who marry somebody local!! (a result of the previous ones i guess)

no lies please...

Being in a LDR has made us better communicators - we take more time and make more effort to express ourselves so the other person can understand and we've learnt how to communicate with each other so that nothing gets "lost in translation"; there's an emotional intimacy and maturity that has developed in our relationship; we know each other better than we knew people we dated for years and our foundation is a lot more solid than those.

Nicely said

I love my DLR and I hate it at the same time. Obviously I want to be with Nick all the time but it's just not possible yet...so we do what we have to do.

I find we know each other inside out and backwards, we have great lines of communication and we don't fight over stupid stuff cause we both know it's so not worth it.

Also, I find that the romance and intimacy is very high. You know at the beginning of a relationship when it's all like sparks and butterflies? That's prolonged over such a long period of time because you don't have the ability to see one another on a daily basis.

That's exciting.

I'm looking forward to the next step though, webcams and long distance is getting tiring, I want to see him every day! :)

Let's Keep the Song Going!!!
