Hello,

I am a new user here. I have a quick question: I am wondering if I can mail in both mine and my sister's citizenship application in the same package to the Laguna Niguel Center. We are not filing together but can I send it in like that?

SIncerely,

Han

It would depend on whether the person opening the envelope noticed two separate applications, and issued two "receipts". Personally, I think even if the risk is minimal it is simply not worth taking - the potential delays/hassles it could cause is simply not worth it to save a couple of dollars - JMHO

Sep 12, 2007 - Priority date

Jan 10, 2008 - fingerprints appointment (letter lost due to mailing address receipted incorrectly)

Feb 7, 2008 - fingerprints done (took about 10 min - as a walk-in)

Sept 8, 2008 - Interview date (letter received Jul 18) - rescheduled at my request

Jan 6, 2009 - Interview date

Feb 26, 2009 - Citizenship Oath

I totally agree with AusCal. However what you could do is have two totally separate envelopes for you and your sister like you would send them separate. Then you could put both of these envelopes inside another envelope that you mail. This way the person who opens the packet is forced to notice two applications. Make sure both applications have their own cover letter, etc. Good luck.

The N-400 applications does not require a cover letter. You could choose to do one, if you wanted to list all the additional info you were attaching.

My N-400 was not based on marriage to a US citizen (5 years had already elapsed since my GC, so, even though I could have chose the "spouse" option, I choose to use the 5 year option), so I didn't need to submit all the additional "proof" etc. I didn't even consider sending a cover letter.
