If you're married, K1 is not an option. CR1 or K3 are options for married people. You are either legally married or you are not. If you are legally married, you'll have an official government issued certificate of marriage. That's the certificate you need.

You can't do a K-1 if you are legally married now.

You can read on the Cairo US Embassy website under immigration visa about how to get married in Egypt.

It explains all the things you have to do if you want to have it legal.

K3 or CR1 take longer to get the visa than the K1, but apparently there is less paperwork with USCIS to do

once you get here. There are some forums on this.

well we had the same problem about the marriage form

well your marriage now its illegal i think you talking about ( orfee marriage ) yes ?!!

there is one way to get married to US citizen and i think you know that way or you can read about it in the USA embassy site

the USA embassy and the ministry of justice will deny that marriage so my thoughts to you is file for K1 visa .

or you can get married through the USA embassy to file for K3 .....

good luck and have a nice night

Nothing's impossible . Nothing's unreachable .When I am weary you make me stronger

This love is beautiful .So unforgettable . I feel no winter cold when we are together .

Will you stand by me ?!!!Hold on and never let me go .

Will you stand by me?!! With you i know i belong . When the story gets told .

When day turns into night .I look into your eyes . I see my future now .All the world and its wonder

This love wont fade away. And through the hardest days . I will never question us .You are the reason my only reason.

I'm blessed to find what i need in a world loosing hope. you are my only believe .

You make things right every time after time.....

Will you stand by me ?!!!

I love you so much and i miss you so much more .

For an American to be married in Egypt, they must get an affidavit from the Embassy that the American must fill out before having the civil marriage. AFter the civil marriage takes place, then you must have the marriage certificate translated and take it back to the embassy for them to notarize so that it will be recognized in the U.S. as a legal marriage.

Yes, there were some issues this past summer, and for whatever reason the embassy was not giving out these affidavits. Luckily, we had completed our affidavit from the embassy in January, and got married in May. But when I was there in May, the embassy was no longer issuing these affidavits. So, I'd say that if you didn't go to the embassy first, and you did not have your certificate notarized by them, then no, I don't think it will be recognized as a legal marriage. In that case, K-1 is what you guys should file. It seems like those are going faster than IR/CR-1 anyway. Best of luck!!
