I posted in the CR 1 Forum but didn't get a response.

For cr 1 what do packets 3 and 4 contain??? No way we have enough time to get and process that before his interview on May 5?

So I thought I would try here :

My husband's interview is on May 5 in Tunis - The problem is that we have not gotten anything in the mail (neither myself nor him) from the Embassy or NVC - I'm guessing this packet of information contains his instructions for the interview and the forms for the medical exam that he will need to get? I called NVC this morning and spoke with "May" and told her that I had not gotten anything yet - She said that NVC mailed it on April 11, 2008 - which is odd because I'm in Delaware and it should have gotten to me by now. I'm also having a problem with my mail lady - for some reason ( I live in an apartment) she decided that I don't live there any more and someone with the last name Saddler does :unsure: So I called the post office and sorted that out but it's only been a problem for one or two days and they said they don't believe that any mail was rejected - so it's slightly possible, though not likely the post office returned my mail - All that being said - May was not very helpful this morning. I told her, he has 17 days to handle anything that packet of information tells him to do - specifically the medical exam, which from what I understand can be quite complex and will take seeing a few different doctors, x rays, etc - So i asked her what she thought we should do? Mail will take at least 10 days from the US to Tunisia so that's the earliest that he can expect to get his - and I asked her about sending another one to me and she just kinda phone shrugged, I mean sounded like oh well nothing I can do and did not confirm that they would send me out another copy. What do I do? It is expected he has had the medical exam before he goes to his interview, right? And what else comes in that packet - can someone that recently got one tell me please? Right now our case was closed on March 28, 2008- It was forwarded to the embassy on April 11, 2008 and they stated they mailed that "information" out on April 10, 2008 to me and Jihed - I don't what is in it, so I'm not even sure what we are missing at this point? Can someone help please about the remainder of this process? Thank you guys and gals!! smile.gif

Thank you!!

Well this is what I found out today :

I called NVC again and got a different representative who told me that the appointment letters were all we needed and they were mailed on April 10, 2008 - so Inshallah I will find mine in the mailbox today or tomorrow - I sorted out my postal service problem too

I only had to threaten a few people lol

NVC said that in the event we do not get the appointment letter before the interview, to do as you said and call the Embassy and they should have a procedure for this type of problem. I did call today, but I ended up getting a very loud Marine answering the phone stating "Sergent So And so Post 23 " I was like OMG what? lol  He said call back tomorrow and they will be here to help you, all calls get forwarded out here when the embassy closes - very nice guy!

The NVC girl Kelly also gave me the website "Interview Preparation" (www.travel.state.gov) and said most of the info should be there -

We got the medical exam information, in French, and I gave it to Jihed. He's going to call the doctor in the morning and find out if he can come in on Monday and do the testing and get that ball rolling. He does not have his appointment letter, but he does have all his other information from USCIS and NVC that has been mailed to him over the last 10 months, so it shouldn't be hard to prove to the doctor he's really going to a visa interview. Besides, what does the doctor have to lose? Jihed will pay him and he will have his money, no matter what lol

We had a spat today though about vaccination records. I was swearing up and down if he just went to the hospital in his town they would be there, and he was swearing to me that the big hole on his right arm was his proof of vaccination and that they don't keep those kinds of records in Tunisia. I freaked of course, thinking we just don't have time for this - And told him go to the doctor and tell them to shoot you with everything they have!

But reading on that website NVC gave me, I learned that many places don't keep the records and the panel doctor in Tunis will know based on where Jihed was born and lived and his age, what he's already had and anything else he'd need to get.

No one seemed to know anything about what Packet 3 or Packet 4 meant at NVC. The girl was like I don't know what you're talking about? So I am thinking that maybe since we are CR 1 and I responded to the DS 230 with every piece of original documentation they could ever need, they might have everything from us. Can anyone think of something else they might need? :help:

I told Jihed to take an updated bulletin number 3 from the police in Jendouba (his town ) and take it with him just incase, even though we already gave them one from a few months ago. (Police report) and he's going to call about the medical exam in the morning. I suppose at this point there just is nothing else that we can do but wait for that appointment letter to get to me or him, inshallah soon and take it from there.

The real issue is just going to be that he can't even enter the embassy in Tunis without that appointment letter- but again I will call the Embassy tomorrow and talk to them personally.

The only bad thing is we have 17 days left before his interview - including weekends - and May 1 is a holiday in Tunisia, so all things will be closed and May 2 is a Friday - which is a usual half day for all offices in Tunisia and being the day after a holiday before a weekend, Jihed thinks many people will be cutting out that day anyway. So we basically have from today to April 30 to handle all of this - and that's not much time at all.

Can you tell yet that I'm a spaz?:yes:

Thank you again!!! :)

Did you call the consulate directly in Tunis?? Or email them that's what I did to find out what they needed they just emailed me the papers instead of sending to his house.

Looks like you sorted out everything. If you don't receive the appointment letter before interview, you can email the Embassy and the embassy will ask the beneficiary to bring the email copy to the embassy. That way, the embassy will give the appointment letter, interview packet by hand to the beneficiary.
