I was finally able to get my IIN last night. I spoke with a man last night and just asked him if I can get my IIN and he gave it to me with no problem. I don't know why they don't tell all their rep to just give the number out if someone asks for it.

It took me two days of operator-hopping to get my IIN after I knew that my IV bill has been generated. To make the online payment system more popular, NVC really needs to make the system more user friendly. For instance filers should have a way to safely obtain IIN without having to talk to operator.

I don't think the NVC is looking to make the online system popular right now as it isn't officially open for use. They removed the link from their page so you can only access it directly. It's been up and down all day as they're obviously testing. The NVC is telling everyone that it's not up yet. Once they're ready to release it, petitioners will receive their IIN in the mail probably upon AOS fee bill generation.

I called today to see if my I-864 had been generated and the woman told me three times that the online system is not up yet even when I said many people have paid online already. She got a very funky attitude with me too.

Just trying to muster the energy (and the money) to do this again.

The response is probably much higher than

they expected. which in turn increases their caseload.

Try emailing NVC to get IIN. It might be slower that calling to get IIN but eventually they'll reply. I sent the email asking for IIN on 04/15 and got an email back with IIN on 11/21, even though I already obtained it by talking with operator.

All,

This forum has been the greatest help in expediting and learning about the whole USCIS and NVC process. (Prior to finding this, i have been talking to lawyers, families and friends who have been in this situation before with a very little help)

I have a question in reference to I-864 and DS 230 after I use the online bill payment. is there any dependency on DS-230 for I-864? (it doesn't seem that way from the NVC flowchart). Could I send DS-230 as soon as the barcode sheet is available via online payment method after my payment for IV bill is processed. (From looking at the other posts, this could be 2-3 days after mailing out my I-864)

Thanks everyone again on this forum (wish I knew about this forum when my sister did her processing for her husband. it is been a year and 10 months and still no visa for her husband, the US embassy in Islamabad asked him to wait 4-6 weeks after the interview, it's been over 9 weeks and no correspondence from them).

Process Dates:

-- USCIS --

10-28-07 Case Filed With USCIS

01-21-08 Received NA01

03-27-08 I-130 Approved (surprise of the year, with all the delays at USCIC)

-- NVC --

03-31-08 NVC assigned Case #

04-14-08 NVC generates DS-3032

04-15-08 Email NVC with Choice of Agent

04-21-08 Email/Choice of Agent accepted by NVC

04-22-08 Paid AOS bill online (Still haven't received the AOS bill in mail)

Future dates:-)

04-23-08 Submit AOS online

04-24-08 Pay IV bill Online

04-24-08 Submit DS-230 online

04-25-08 Case completed at NVC

Woohoo!!

Did you get your IIN from an operator??? Tell me your secret!!

I called NVC this morning after trying for almost a day (Kept getting bz tone), spoke to a gentleman- after he went thru my case verification (DOB, Petitioner Name, etc) I started my conversation off with something like "I m sure you are getting many calls for this and m wondering if you could provide my with my Invoice #" first thing he said is that system is not yet working, "BUT YOU CAN TRY." and then he gave me the IIN #. he also said, if it doesn't work then you will have to mail in your AOS fee bill. I ended a conversation with "thank you and I will give the new system a try...."

the whole conversation lasted for less than 30 SECONDS. and it took me another 25 SECONDS to pay MY AOS bill!!!!

On the other hand, I got my AOS bill in mail today (which was generated on 4/14/08) and SURPRISE SURPRISE, there IS NO IIN # on it. So all you people waiting for the AOS bill in mail and expecting an IIN number, its not there. Just call NVC and get the number from them.

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Marlita was right, the night shift folks were not as hard-nosed as all of those people I spent all morning talking to!! I finally got my IIN and paid the IV bill online!!! Yeah!!!! It makes me so excited to know that I won't be holding up my case for a month while I am out of the country and waiting for a piece of mail. NVC has entered the 21st century!!! Yeah!! I just wish I had waited to pay my AOS bill online too!!
