Question about Address Change

Our AP and EAD were just approved, and we should have them soon. They will have our current address on them, I believe. We are going to be moving in mid-May. Will our move to a different address have any effect on the validity of these documents?

Thanks!!

NO  they will still be valid after moving.

Only word of caution is that USCIS can and in many cases have lost important things like AOS interview appointment letters due to a person's moving. This has caused a few to miss an important AOS interview, and end up having to deal with USCIS removal proceedings. USCIS tends to send letters with "Return Service Requested" this causes USPS to return the mail to USCIS instead of forwarding it on to a new address.

Thanks! That's a relief. :D

Do you have any suggestions for how to avoid missing stuff in the mail? Would you suggest just pestering USCIS a lot about the address change?

Basically, we are planning to put in an address change to USCIS to our new address (which is my parents' address, so they will receive stuff on our behalf if it gets there before we move) as soon as we have the AP and EAD, so hopefully we can avoid this problem, since we will still be checking the mail at our old address until we move.

Another question, if we get our interview appointment for what is CURRENTLY our nearest local USCIS office, and then move to a location where ANOTHER local office is closer, is there any chance that they would change the appointment to the subsequent office?

Finally, based on our current time line, it seems like there is a pretty good chance that our interview will be scheduled for June, but my wife, the immigrant, will be gone the entire month of June, and me for a big chunk of it as well. How open is the USCIS to rescheduling interviews?

Thanks in advance!

You need to do a few things, First file an AR-11, and an I-865 to update USCIS on address. Then call USCIS and update them on the new address, and also call them again a few days later to confirm the address change.

Also a good thing is if you do have an interview appointment letter, is to do an info pass appointment and get it rescheduled and case moved to your new field office.

Again you need to follow up to make sure USCIS is on track.

Example of a move during AOS that went wrong. http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?...c=22057&hl=
