Twenty years? Try 7-9 months. That's when the bombs are going to be dropped on a few dozen major US cities (after the elections) by our own government, blamed on some terrorist group, and then because we'll all be scared sh!tless, Bushy Boy is going to declare nationwide martial law and remain in residence as the Dictator-In-Chief, eventually destroying our environment and our economy, making a complete mockery (more than he all ready has) of the concept of freedom and revoking the Constitution, declaring his family, friends, and all the government officials who are pulling his puppet strings to be royalty and invoking papal-style infallibility for all of them, and turning us into the United Fundamentalist Christian States of North America (after subjugating Canada and Mexico).

What?

It could happen.

I think someone forgot to take their meds before posting.

Would a nuclear explosion really turn land into glass? I hear that expression a lot, would like to understand where it comes from.

Not a sheet of glass but it would make glass balls out of the sand. I have several friends that have worked at the Nevada Test site and told me about it.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senator Barack Obama
Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

Weren't they saying that in the 50's too?

All that "duck and cover" b/s.

Yeah, occasionally on "Leave It to Beaver", they would be in school and they had bomb drills and they would hide under their desks for protection.

Don't laugh - there's a lot of protection in that 2 inches of wood ;)
