I-129F Returned

Our I-129F application was returned yesterday after 18 days. I sent the application to the Omaha, NE address and I was supposed to send it to USCIS/NSC, PO Box 87130, Lincoln, NE 68501-7130. Also they said that they cannot accept personal checks and that it has to be a Cashier's Check or a Money Order. I am resending today overnite mail with a notification for delivery. So we're back to square one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry about the delay.... hope all goes well for you now.

I've never heard that you can't send personal checks..... we did. Oh well, things change daily with USCIS.

::sigh:: I just sent ours off yesterday.

I sent it to the correct address, but I did send payment via a personal check.

I wonder if I will be getting it back in about 18 days?

That's weird they said personal checks are not accepted because a lot of people on here made the payment using a personal check including me. My petition was delayed two weeks too cause they sent it back as the check wasn't signed.

From the I-129F form:

"The fee will not be refunded, whether the petition isapproved or not. Do not mail cash. All checks or money orders, whether U.S. or foreign, must be payablein U.S. currency at a financial institution in the UnitedStates. When a check is drawn on the account of a personother than yourself, write your name on the face of thecheck. If the check is not honored, USCIS will chargeyou $30.00."

I've never heard that you can't send personal checks

We filed on April 21st and they accepted my personal check. It was cashed a few days later.

Note that USMA incorrectly sent the petition to a District Office, and it was the District Office that said personal checks are not acceptable. I expect that the note was stating the local policy, not necessarily speaking for another facility.

My Sub Office also does not accept personal checks.
