No kidding. I was hoping to have the $900 they owe me for Christmas bills.....apparently that won't be happening.

They said to phone back within a month and see if there is any update yet.

So I have been in "Reassessment in Progress" for 2 months now. I called them up on Friday, and the girl on the phone asked me a bunch of questions. Asks if she can put me on hold, proceeds to leave me on hold for 5-10 minutes, comes back and says "I don't know what is going on with your file because it is in "Reassessment in Progress". We no #######, I could have told myself that!

So I asked how long does a 'reassessment' take once it's in progress, because I have been waiting for 2 months, and Submitted it in June!

She said, it could be a difficult problem and they may require information from me. I told her Bull. It's an easy fix...always was, and if they had fixed the wrong problem in the first place, rather than fixing everything else AROUND that wrong problem, we wouldn't be here.

Just give me my money dammit!!!! :ranting:

Wow....that felt good

GAh.. so I called again re: my adjustment. They said they are currently working on July-1st 2 weeks of August Adjustments and if I haven't heard anything by 3rd week in January to call back and they potentially could expedite the process.. STILL there is nothing showing up on my epass and no guarantees they even received my paperwork at all.. what a silly process!! Anyway, the hope of expediting is promising .. a little bit. :(

I think we need to start calling the International Tax Office like we did the EI Office in Belleville.

I don't think they know what they are doing. They told you July August? I just phoned and the girl said they are currently working on June.

Then she tells me that they are working on mine (again...I already know this). So I ask her, how long does it normally take? And she says, "well it should be 4-6 weeks, but c'mon, let's be honest" I said, I've been waiting for almost 3 months since being in "Reassessment in Progress". And she proceeds to say that the complicated ones take longer. MINE IS NOT COMPLICATED. I pretty much told them Exactly what they needed to do, and which lines, basically Doing Their Job. :ranting:

She said to call back in a couple of weeks. WHY? So I can hear you tell me the same damn thing?

Not Happy. This is WORSE than immigrating here!

Seriously, call or contact the office of your former MP from where you used to live in Canada and ask them for help. The issue involves a time when you did live in their riding so they should still be willing to help you. I know that I did when I worked for my MP and I know that when I had problems with the International Tax office after I moved here I sent a request for assistance to my replacement. No problems - they got on top of it and worked it out on my behalf (required a second letter from me explaining what I was after). So, give it a try. One comment - the International Tax Office was always notoriously slow and difficult to work with whenever I had to work with them. Looks like things haven't changed, but try to get more ammo on your side - use your former MP.

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that they'll still be working on my last year's submission when it's time to file this year's. I do know that they have it because I received a letter making sure it was okay for my financial planner to act on my behalf. But that was way back in June or July.

I finally received an envelope from Canada Revenue. Asking me to determine my residency status in Canada for 2007. I suppose I'll fill it out and put in some written notes explaining my '07 tax return.

I'd like to be happy. But after 7 months of waiting, you just can't.
