YUK!!!! We found a possum in the house this morning!!!! When hubby came home from work, he came in the bedroom to kiss me and said he smelled pee - I had no idea what he was talking about cuz I couldn't smell it. I got up, he went to bed. About 10 min later, he calls me to the bedroom and says "What's that? A rat? " I couldn't see, so he turned on a light and I saw it was a baby possum. Well, it had sh!t and peed all over the corner of the bedroom behind the bedside table! OMG! Apparently it must have come in thru the dog door before I closed it for the night and found a nice little nesting spot in the comforter we'd put on the floor (it was warm a few nights ago). Thank God I was too lazy to pick it up at about 4am when I was so cold, I just stayed under the sheet. Well, about a half hour of us both freaking out a little, trying to catch this little ####### w/ a shoebox, and not quite sure what the heck we were doing, we finally caught it. We ended up tossing it over the fence (into a neighbor's yard). Mom says we should have killed it, but A) I wouldn't have known how and B) I wasn't really thinking about slaughtering a little possum @ 7am!!!

Anyhoo, now I have to hurry to dress so I can go to the store b4 work and rent a steam cleaner for the carpet........ Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww..... possums!!!!!!!

and they are usually loaded with fleas.

a shovel to the head works pretty good btw

I agree with you they are laden with fleas, but to murder them barbarically with a shovel is something that will make me cry if I even think about it! I have a family of them under my shed. No, I dont like them, but they do reduce the rat and slug problem. Since they are nocturnal, I don't see them much.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

not that i've ever done that, around here they are not a problem - the coyotes keep them down in population.
