I strongly disagree on this tho... a ticket to see my SO is already 1700 usd, it was raised 200 bucks the last two months, I'd say that this is enough for now lol

Fuel prices have been continiously going up recently. Faster than the rate of inflation. Cost of fuel is a sizable part of the overall ticket price.

I wonder though, since the amount of fuel an aircraft needs to make a trip is dependent on the weight of the plane, including the weight of the passengers, that airlines would start charging extra fees to those who are overweight.

That would be logical thinking because when cargo is transported, the price is based on weight, but..unfortunately it would become a "discrimination" issue and all Heck would break loose. I have heard that Southwest makes passengers that take up an extra seat space actually buy an extra seat...and rightfully so...that would take care of the extra cost IMHO.

I don't see anytime soon, airline employees having customers stand up on the baggage weight scale...

Would make for new reality tv. I know Southwest has (had?) a tv show.
