all? No one ever solves all their problems. But I'd fly with them. Be more worried about the airlines not fixing their problems.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

I've never flown with American Airlines before, so I don't know why I'd fly with them now. I don't have anything against them per se, but I've often found better deals -- and from what I've heard, better service -- on other airlines.

As I recall, AA found some problems in only a few MD-80s, which prompted them to ground numerous aircraft. That made the situation look worse than what it probably was (and piss off a lot of passengers), but it was ultimately the responsible thing to do. Even if just one of those planes was faulty, allowing it to go up could've cost hundreds of lives. Of course, I somehow I think AA was more concerned about the bad publicity and lawsuits that would result from such an event, rather than the overall loss of life. ;)

Probably the best airlines I've ever been on were Canadian, actually. Air Canada has LCD monitors built into the backs of the seats in front of you, so every passenger has their own screen and can watch whatever they want, without an extra free. That's a lot better than being forced to pay for earphones and then having to watch whatever the airline picks for you. Purely in the realm of service, I'd say West Jet has the most friendly and helpful staff and crew I've ever seen; it's really quite amazing to see them work. It's as if they enjoy their job, instead of merely wishing their shift was over, as is the case with so many airlines.

As a sidenote... I saw a news blurb today that stated Delta and Northwest were merging. Did anyone else see that? It doesn't really surprise me, considering the two are part of something called the "SkyTeam" (which almost sounds like a superhero group) along with Continental and other airlines as well. Delta, Northwest and Continental work together all the time, offering codeshares on each other's flights. So a merger was probably in the making for a long time now.

The merger has been in the works for the past few months. Hopefully it doesnt affect air service in MSP too much.

American and US Air are thinking about a merger.

I think this deal is bad for us, it could end up like AT&T, buying out all the competition then having a monopoly.

As for American, their prices are always much higher than the rest, so no I would not fly them unless I had a free ticket.

Yes  Because they have good prices, leave on time, and they have more direct flights to Buenos Aires than any other airline.

I have an AAdvantage card lol :P

I'm flying American in June to Washington, D.C.

I've been on a Northwest plane in Detroit where the toilent in first class overflowed and we were forced to deplane. They couldn't get the front door open, so we had to climb the stairs out the back of the plane. Was I a little concerned? Of course. But in the end, it's a crapshoot every time you get in a car, on a bus, on a train, on a plane. When it's your time, it's your time.

I do see taking care of this issue as a plus for American.

You only get one trip

We used to be their hub. We used to get great service. Now, not so much!

I think they are all pretty much the same. Good days and bad days.
