Urgent! Please help!

Hey guys, here is my story :

I entered to the U.S. with K1 visa, and we are going to have a wedding in June 21st. I sent two invitations for my friend ( my bridesmaid ) and my mom with letters and my visa copies etc... and they just had their interview together today.

My friend got her B1 visa, however, my mom didn't.. she was told that they think my mom would overstay in the U.S. because I am currently in the U.S., so now I don't know what to do! We are both very very disappointed.

Are there any others ways that I can try for my mom?? I really hope my mom can attend my wedding.. please help!

i am currently in the same situation. I want to bring my fiance's mother to our wedding. Do you suggest b1 visa be the best option for her? Would she need proof of k1 visa and wedding plans?

I'm sorry that your mom didn get her visa but honestly, it really makes no difference since the CO will do whatever she/he wants to do. She can go again to see if they will approve her, maybe try to explain again why she wants to travel, but don't be surprised if she's denied again. Most people don't get approved for these type of visas.

hi there, sorry i meant to say B2 visa.. but the B2 visa is the only option for her and as she is already denied, i don't know what i can try anymore because i already sent her the copy of my k1 visa, wedding invitation and everything..

Yes you are right, they control everything.. and since there are only 2 months until the wedding, I don't think I will tell my mom to try again, because US$131 isn't a small amount.. sigh..

You need to move ahead. You MUST get married in the US and you are now under a time limit. Get married with whomever can make it, by your side. When able, maybe you can go back and renew your vows so your mother can be a part of it all.

Well actually we are already married at the court house, that's why we are having a formal wedding at the church.

And I sent an email to the embassy in Hong Kong even though I know it might not help, but I really don't know what else I can do since the wedding is only 2 months away from now..

I'm sorry to hear that, I would say she should try again, I don't know how it works there but in Peru it depends of the person who interviews you at the embassy, there are mean ones and nicer ones, no matter what the mean ones deny almost everybody! so maybe next time another she will have her interview with a different person. Another thing is maybe you can put more money in your mom's bank account if there's no enough, so she could show them that if they ask for it. Good luck!

I have been fighting with this for 4 years. Mother in law missed our wedding, and has been turned down 4 times total. It has to do with presenting "sufficient ties" to your country to convince the officer that she will return. For some people that's very hard. The officer is required to start from the assumption that your mother will overstay her visa, and it is up to your mother to prove that she has sufficient ties that will induce her to return. Ties include more than just money in the bank, it also includes real estate ownership, employment, and familial ties. Note that familial ties means immediate family still in the home country, such as spouse or children. Parents and siblings are not good enough.

I know it's tough and frustrating, but that's the way it is. If she tries again, they will ask her to show how her situation has changed since last time she applied, and if there is no change, then she may be denied again.

Now that my wife is a citizen, we are hoping that it may make a difference. But if she gets turned down again, we may just petition her even though we don't want to (mother in law doesn't want to either), just so she can come visit.

Bring your documents to the Senator office at your local. They ll help to bring your mom here for lifetime happiness. TALK in person is good way to do it. My friend's mom got visa before.Good luck.
