will our age do anything to affect our application?

being young shouldnt effect you unless you are 17. You must make over 120 percent over the poverty line though.

If you do not meet the poverty guidelines you can look into getting a cosponsor who meets the requirements.

As for the age, as long as you are of age (or if you are underage have the parents consent) then you should be fine.

As long as you are of age to marry where you intend to marry, your age will not cause a denial. Nobody can predict whether "you should be fine". We don't know anything else about your circumstances except you say you are both young.

Time to start studying the appropriate "Guide" and the I-129F instructions and start learning the process. Soon you'll have other questions that will help us better predict whether "you'll be fine" but it's still only an opinion/prediction not a fact.
