you do not want passport stamped. you need it in a letter to send to nvc. I will be trying to obtain it withing the next month so will tell my experience.

Hi Kman,

My wife submitted her passport to get PCC at hyderabad Passport office. She heard that they will stamp the passport for the PCC. If thats the case How would I send a original PCC without sending the passport. Do we have to request them to have it on paper because they just seems like going to do in some standard format of stamping it on passport. The people at these offices are biggest jerks and remind of the old curropted ways. Added headache is that they will be going to get PCC from indian consulate in jeddah which would delay paper work. All i am hoping right now is whatever we do in the correct way. please give your suggestion, i will appreciate that. thanks

My wife was granted the PCC from passport office and they are going give her two copies of a letter and also a stamp in the passport. I think they should give you a letter also since this should be consistent across all passport offices.

kman - What did you tell them to get multiple copies of letter? Is it a simple request of multiple copies? I will be pursing both K-3 and CR1/IR1 and hence, will need 2 originals. My wife will also be getting the PCC from ahmedabad from passport office as well as district police commissioner's office.

We used the DS230 Cover Letter along with NOA2. The clerk just glanced at the cover letter from what my wife told me. He was probably looking for the nvc case number, BMB##########.

I am a K3 filer and would be going on parallel routes in a hope to finally get a CR1/IR1 visa. Hence, I would need 2 sets of originals for PCC from district office and from local passport office.

I do not have my approval yet but have requested my spouse to start collecting the PCC. She went to the district commissioner's office in Shahibaug to request 3 originals (1 for K3 VFS submission, 1 for CR1/IR1 DS-230 package, and 1 to be taken to interview as read in several posts). However, she was told that no one has ever issued more than 1 PCC from the district office. I am not approved yet so I can't generate/show DS-230 coversheet. I asked my wife to take Packet 4 checklist, India reciprocity information, NOA1 for I-130 and I-129F but that didn't help.

1. How did others manage to get multiple copies of PCC from Commissioner's office as well as from passport office?

2. How many originals do you need for pursuing K3 and IR1/CR1 in parallel? 2 or 3? Does 1 original need to be taken to interview as well?

3. Has anyone been successful in obtaining PCC before the approval? If so, what did you tell them and what documents did you present?

Please help me. My wife has been trying to get this PCC for about a month and half now and its frustrating.

Thanks.

hi

you automatically get two copies from the passport office without asking for it. from the district police station, we got only one copy because we didn't request more. I am sure with some bribe, you can obtain two copies from the district police office. you will need one copy of the original for IR. I am not familiar with the k3 so can't say what the requirements are.

Thanks for your reply, kman. I will have my wife offer some bribe for multiple copies from district office.

Did your spouse take 1 original of each PCC to the interview in addition to what you submitted to the NVC? Or it is not required for the spouse to take an extra original to the interview?

It seems that you waited for your NOA2 and DS-230 cover sheet before requesting PCC. If the bribe thing doesn't work, I may have to do that.

Thanks a lot.

We will probably submit the second copy to VFS. Waiting for NOA2 and DS230 cover letter didn't delay us much, about 5-10 days. Not much after you have waited 8 months to get the file approved. I created the DS230 cover letter using James Shortcut once I knew what the case number was.

Thanks kman. I actually called NVC yesterday and confirmed with some representative that they will accept photocopy of PCC from district as well as passport office. If we can't get multiple originals, we will submit photocopy at NVC for CR1 and original for K3. We will try to get the PCC before NOA2 but if not, will generate DS-230 cover sheet as you said after I have my NVC case #. I hope that I get approved soon. Its been a while.

I think I saw somewhere that if you are pursuing both k3 and ir1, you should ignore k3 submissions. Siyaram, you should look into this.

Thanks for the heads up, kman. I will look into this. So far, I came across only 1 user who had ignored K3 process. I have read couple of them mentioning that one still needs to go to interview as K3 interview but then request the officer to change the visa to CR1 from K3. I will research a bit more. Thanks and happy diwali.
