I am living in El Salvador and not yet married to my Salvadoran partner. We are deciding which route to take. I have spent some time reading posts and government websites and from what I can tell filing a I-129f costs $455 but when you enter the States within 90 days you must file an Adjusment of Status. Is the cost of that about $1000 extra? On the other hand, when the I-130 is approved does it include the approval of the green card with no extra paperwork or charges? It seems like they take about the same time, so can anyone think of a reason why the I-130 isn't a better option, and fater to getting the green card in the long run? Sorry if this has already been answered, I have been combing through so much info and couldn't seem to find it. THANK YOU!!!

It depends on your embassy. If the difference between the K3 and CR1 visas is 1-2 months, then your best option is for the CR1 since you won't have to file additional paperwork once the beneficiary gets here. If the difference of processing times at your embassy is greater than 1-2 months, say 6-12 months, then the K3 would make sense.

The CR1 requires that you file for removal of conditions 21 months after your spouse enters the U.S. This requires a payment of around $550, so the CR1 is about $450 less overall.
