I think the mods should be able to read the chat logs incase something happens so they can check it but there really isn't a point in other members being able to read them. If they want to know what people are chatting about they should just join the chat instead of "snooping".

I'm sorry, but anyone who reads through the old chat log is a pitiful loser, desperate to see if other people are talking about them. Me, I don't care. I doubt people discuss me when I'm not there, but if they do....oh well.

For fun you could always talk about people just to see if they confront you about it or report it. You could really mess with people! lol

I think this is a good idea as well, as it really serves no purpose. I am going to close this thread at this time as I fear some veiled comments in here about members. Might be me just being overcautious, but regardless, the suggestion is a good one and the thread has served it purpose .
